Actually he was way behind and the commentator was right, it's just that MC messed up his collossus micro, didnt focus the corrupters and took a terrible fight in general, he also lost the nexus, but for most of the time zerg was behind because they were on even harvesters and bases and in such a situation zerg is always behind.

If he put down two at once instead, there wouldve been a slight chance that MC doesnt respond to both in time, giving him atleast a chance.
