It's called relativity; when i say "wow Player X is really bad" i do not mean i can beat him. I do not mean that he is bad relative to my level of skill - he is bad relative to the professional standard we expect. There is nothing wrong with this; just because we are not professionals does not mean we cannot comment on their standard of play. Whether it is good, bad or terrible.
What you are referring to is respect. If we respect an icon like Grubby as much as we should; calling him bad is unwarranted. Quite obviously, people don't respect Grubby as much as they should.

I can't disagree any more with this post. This is what fans do, in every sport. Its what sports radio hosts and guys on ESPN do every day and get paid good money to do so. I can't play better than Peyton Manning, but when he threw 5 interceptions against the Chargers a few years back I have every right to say he played like garbage because he did.

The argument that you have to be as good as X to criticize that player is only logical if it is your buddy next door. We are talking about pro sports, where a mass of fans follow players. I am not nearly as good as Gattuso or Lampard, but I think both are trash right now.
Everything is relative of course. Relative to myself, they are good. Just like Grubby, but since when I am a standard to compare to pro's?

This is one of the reasons eSports will unfortunately struggle for a long time to get the status of a "normal Entertainment" in the global society... You should at least have some respect for someone who shares the same passion like you do. Why do some people of different games do not have respect for each other... I dont get it.
