No not really.. it is not that much of a difference, he can just build a queen less.. Its probably a better build than spawning pool first if you wish to go eco.

The double food count is only available on official blizzard maps. This meta has been edited to remove close positions.. I think. Some previous tournaments had problems with this too..

I've seen that same hatch placement in a BW pro match (it may have been a TSL match or something, but pretty sure it was a korean progame) in response to a pylon at the nat. He is just making the hatch close instead of taking a third to avoid having to defend a big area. Taking a third wasn't that uncommon a response to that in BW, so that play from Ret doesn't seem that strange to me.
