It's so skewed to first (85k for #1 vs 25k for #2?!) and third and fourth both get the same amount. These numbers don't make any sense at all -- I'd love to know who came up with them and how/why.

I believe $85,700 is 100 million won which, from a marketing perspective, sounds a lot better than 75 million won or 50 million won. In my opinion, more people will be talking about how x guy won 100 million won than y progamer taking 3rd for 1 million won.
While I agree it doesn't make a lot of sense, especially 3rd and 4th being the same it does wonders from a publicity angle.
