I would be interested in this Gold league. It sounds like a lot of fun. Since I won't be able to play in the next Gold rising cup even though I didn't win.

This sounds like fun, I did the rising cup and it was probably one of my best SC experiences, so definitely count me in on this.

So about how many more do you guys think we need?

Including the two that just posted, 16 should be enough, no?

16's good for me. I do have to point out, again though, that my play schedule is kinda whack :\
Hopefully people can stay up a bit, at least on weekends

Yup, I'm gold.

Wait, so which type of league format are we going to follow? And if we are following the one above, can we get er, a simpler overview?

This is "your" tournament, right, DuncanIdaho?

Updated. As for format, maybe we can just do the top 8 seed into their appropriate seats, lined up as I had them, just without the two divisions. And how many games per week do we want to do, one bo3 against one opponent, or two opponents? It's whatever...

Also, just watched the DI v Chris game, and despite some of the comments, I thought that was a good job casting.

I can't promise anything granted I just started an internship and it's thrown my sleep schedule out of whack when I have to be in New York City by 5AM. That and I haven't played Starcraft since the Rising Cup #2 :-/ I would love to, but the I can't confirm right now that I can.

EDIT: As for swiss style, I can't explain it too well, but here is the wikipedia on it XD

I totally understand, did a statistics internship at ACT up in Iowa City once, as well. I'll count you out then, but you're welcome to observe any games. And grats again!

We're going have to get a lot more specific.

Your format doesn't really have seeds though. Unless, of course, you mean that the top 8 (half of the group) basically enter into a quarter-final stage of a "tournament" or something.

Honestly, I think this would give too little benefit for the person in first place, when you consider the fact that the person who is worse than half the league receives the same benefit.

--

I would prefer one bo3 per week, with 3 points being awarded for a win, 1 for a tie (unlikely), and 0 for a loss. I think people should play each opponent twice, making it a total of 30 sets per player before the playoffs. Also, I think the number of games won, lost, and the difference between the two should be recorded. That way, when people have the same points in the league, we can give the person who has a higher win-lose difference the higher position.

--

1. RISING is in all caps.
2. Perhaps we should each make a really short personal profile for fun. Like, have a picture, and then a paragraph description about ourselves, and our starcraft experience.
3. I still prefer the BPL mixed with the Pro-League format for a league.
4. The schedule (who plays who which week) should be formed before the start of the league.
5. We can leave prize-pool talk until later, but we shouldn't cast it away.

I thought the plan was to do a regular season as RiveR with similar format that RiveR has said above, than after the season how even the ranking look determin the spots going into the play offs?

This I love. I don't like prize pool idea though.
