Major powerhouses at the time. Boxer was still considered the best by many, and as was nada. At this time, Junwi as known as the ZvT God and Foru as the PvT God. They were so feared, that some thought these terrans wouldn't make it out of the group. What made this group the all time best over the other awesome groups of deaths have to do with the group selection. I mean look at it! Nada has the first pick after winning his first OGN title so he bolding picks Boxer to prove himself. Boxer, knowing the power of Foru's PvT, picks Foru to counter Nada (Foru is also known to have anti-nada antibodies as he ALWAYS beats him), and Foru, seeing 2 scary looking terrans, picks the Terran Killer Junwi. That was amazing amazing group picking.

Reach (P), ElkY (T), HOT (Z), Nada (T) (Panasonic OSL - November 2002)
This was when all these players were at their prime Reach won SKY 2002, ElkY was 4th SKY 2002, HOT got 2nd NATE 2002 and NaDa was starting at his peak winning the KPGA 3rd Tour.
I got none.....

Nada, Boxer, Foru, Junwi

A very close one, but I'd have to go with this Group just by the sheer trauma it inflicted on everyone watching. My head's still ringing from the shock I got when this Group took shape.

What kind of Group gives both Nada AND Boxer less than 50% odds of making it out alive? Just friggin' insane.

Yellow, Nal_rA, Nada, Chojja ,but I was wondering between this one and Nada, Boxer, Foru, Junwi .
How did I compare groups...
Nada is Nada... Nal_rA>Boxer ,Yellow>Junwi ,Chojja~ForU imo
MadFrog : In my opinion, the biggest reason why WC3 is dying is because it is not such a great game as Brood War is.

FYI, the point of the poll is to judge by the standards applicable at the time the Groups were selected.

For example, the Coca Cola OSL had a Group containing Reach, Gundam, Yellow and TheMarine. By today's standards, this Group would be LETHAL. And, in fact, it kind of was - but not as much in comparison to what it would be today.

As correctly pointed out by TKWL, the only genuine giant in that Group AT THE TIME was TheMarine and, to a slightly lesser extent, Gundam. The other two were sort of just up-and-coming, altho, as it turned out, the Coca Cola OSL would be the tournament in which Yellow made a name for himself. Reach wouldn't really become an "A-Class" player until his memorable shredding of Boxer in the SKY 2001.

Only cause u cant build turrets on the ice tileset of Silent Vortex.

Interestingly enough boxer beat garimto on SV pvt in the finals when many considered this almost impossible for a T to do.

Kinda interesting how the best players always manage to win - even when they're told it's not possible.

In any case, I don't agree with your characterization of SV. SV was widely known to be a P>T map no doubt about it. But I've never heard it being referred to by anyone as an "impossible" map for T to win TvP and I covered a lot of matches and talked to a lot of people when that map was still in play. Difficult, yes, but it can't compare to the way people openly discussed the "impossibility" for P on maps like Incubus (T>P - at least until Garimto came along) or Neo Bifrost (Z>P - until the map was trashed because it was hopeless!).

Going into statistics (which isn't directly related to questions of perception, but it's fun anyway), in SKY 2001, there were 5 PvT matches on SV (including the final between Garimto and Boxer). T won twice on the map and P three times. Boxer accounted for both T wins (vs. Asmodey and Garimto), while Garimto (vs St. Eagle), Reach (vs Boxer) and Asmodey (vs. [NC]...Marine, not to be confused with TheMarine, who's quantum leaps better as a player) got the wins for P.

Also (altho I realize we're moving ahead of the relevant time-line a bit), in the NATE OSL, there was only one PvT match on SV (the "neo" version this time), this time between Sync and forU (then known as [Dak]ddong). forU was a much-respected terran-killer even back in those days, but he still lost (albeit to a Sync who must've been on BW-steroids in the NATE tournament).

There were also a bunch of prelim matches played on SV before it was retired from competitive play, but I won't go into those. Anyway, the point remains the same: PvT on SV was a difficult mu (some would even say very difficult), but it was never widely considered an "impossible" map for Terran TvP - and the stats bear out this inference (altho, like I said, I realize stats don't completely account for public perception, tho no doubt it can help form it). A top-notch player with a sound, dedicated plan of attack was always able to beat any mu on SV on a consistent basis and people knew this. Not so for maps like Neo Bifrost or Incubus which clearly were the subject of much public discussion on how "impossible" the match-ups were for P.

Just some thoughts. Thx for listening.
