I was on the edge of my seat the whole Game 3 like everybody else. Fantastically stubborn refuse-to-lose play by Huk until he got the game in hand. Seems like we always see the great players play their way out of a situation like that where you're left wondering if they are just unkillable -- I'm thinking of games by IMMvP and oGsMC in previous GSL's where you just couldn't believe they weren't dead (also the famous "1 zergling" game by IMNesTea). He said his mind game was in bad shape, but it looked like he kept himself right where he needed to be to hang in and gradually turn it around. Also, I really like hearing about the interactions among the players so I hope those kinds of questions come up more in the interviews. I'd like to hear more about the meta-game of pro gaming in Korea. For example, some things I wish I knew: 1. Is Huk training with oGsMC? Tastosis mentioned they were buddies and there are definite similarities in playing style (force field micro, ftw). If they are pushing each other to improve, you might expect to see both of them going very deep in their brackets. 2. Relatedly, Jinro is playing v. protoss tonight. Is Huk helping him prepare for that? Having really top protoss around to practice against would seem to be a huge advantage. Of course, Jinro and MC face each other next if they both win... 3. All the other foreigners seem to be getting roflstomped out of Code A and often looking to be a bit off their games. Is it hard to prepare to play in those boxes on the stadium? Maybe only Huk and Jinro have so far found the comfort zone to be able to execute on stage? Huk talking about hanging with Boxer and Rainbow was very interesting. I'd imagine that you have to feel like part of the community out there to be able to stay and play your best. I wonder if not feeling like part of the community was a big part of why Idra moved back to the US. | ||
