Racepicking is not allowed in the GSL. If you choose a race (or random) you have to play that for the entire tournament.

Racepicking has always been allowed in TSL, some guy in the TSL 2 qualifiers played TvZ, PvT, and ZvP.

I hope all the good players come out to play in this one. I was slightly disappointed in the first qualifier, there seemed to be a lot of good players missing.

I do want to say that for TSL when we are able to plan matches in advance a player needs to inform his opponent of the race that he will play. He is allowed to play different races in different rounds on different maps, but the opponent has to know well in advance.
This all stems from the opinion we have that a player who is able to play multiple races simply knows the game better and should not be punished for this. We do want to give his opponent a chance to practice the right matchup. As for TL Open we can't plan the matches advance nor do players prepare for opponents so it works out fine with our philosophy.
