The apartments were supposedly abandoned due to structural abnormalities, but the orders from high command were clear: he had to walk to the center of the labyrinthine multi-story dwelling apartments and pull the lever. He didn't know why he was pulling the lever-- such things were mysterious and beyond his ken. Nonetheless, he moved quickly towards his destination, his ears perked up for the potential of tunnel collapses, zergoblins, or other terrors of the deep.
As he entered the lever room, he was horrified to see marvellosity, his colleague, hanging from a noose tied to the lever. rightinthefeels responded to this scene by throwing a tantrum, stripping himself naked, and jumping into a pool of lava, as any well-adjusted dwarf would.
