If the mental patient not only comes from another world but can sense stuff about both universes or maybe all universes (which would explain why he's so fucked up) then it puts him in a unique position to judge whether this doctrine of the establishment is legitimate or just an irrational panic-reaction, in the sense that he senses more clues whether the only viable thing to do to assure survival now and maybe procreation at a time where resources like time and whatnot are abundant again in order for multidimensionality to be affordable again is indeed this conservation process that's being initiated by them.
You say he's here to stop it, which means either a) he's sentimental about his homeworld and/or wants them to be the universe to fulfill the deterministic prophecy, b) he knows that it's wrong (it's too soon or there's another way that doesn't require such an insane level of sacrifice), c) he holds a grudge against this universe's agents that sabotage the other worlds, d) he's some sort of parasite that feeds off of interdimensionality and the freeze-up would kill him or he'd have to find another food source.
All things considered the fact that he's a mental patient incites debate on the following possibilities.
1. He is indeed troubled, perhaps suffering great anguish due to a) simply having to deal with his ability, b) psychological trauma caused by something he experienced on his homewoeld or c) he exists in more universes at the same time and is being tortured in some of them, most likely by agents of this universe who are set to eliminate him.
2. He is faking it to get to the psychiatrist because he's important somehow and could change everything.

I too like the language thing now and unrelated to that, there being those particular 3 characters I see a Father (rational), Son (artist) and the Holy Spirit (mental patient) thing going on now.
Or expanding on d) the mental patient is a satanic demon-type character but essentially helped the progress of humanity along somehow and his language is of demonic heritage, and he's trying to possess the artist (neo-type superhuman) and uses the weak-minded psychiatrist to get to him.

Some girl speaks 4 languages fluently and is so annoyed by sometimes not finding the right words in the language she's speaking in, due to her thought process being interrupted by her subconscious mind's seemingly impractical habit of spouting out translations and even synonyms in the other languages, that she decides to go with it and say them for the sake of finishing the sentence/idea quickly.
This is confusing, alienating and annoying some people but the liberty and flow at which she can vocalize even complicated thought-constructs is so liberating that she continues doing it. She befriends people with roughly the same language-skill constellation on the internet and they frequently talk about the aesthetic and practical features of each language, up to a point where it becomes a hobby to evaluate which language has the most awesome way of articulating stuff in terms of brevity, how it sounds, the metaphoric richness of its imagery etc.
They invest an increasing amount of free time into debating on how to proceed in creating a mashup language, coming up with solutions and filling gaps by incorporating elements from recent history, movie/TV, music, literature, sciences and even their personal life, like a term for a rather negative attribute inspired by the name of the girl's asshole ex-boyfriend for example, depending on what they come up with during brainstorm-sessions and what sticks. They wind up with a bunch of promising versions but instead of agreeing on one they agree on applying those versions in various instances and circumstances. Meaning they reach the conclusion that a woman should speak an entirely different language than a man and each should speak differently depending on their state of mind, prioritizing entirely different linguistic aspects for when scared or angry than for in love/careless, inquisitive etc. They even ponder about how to encourage elevated discussion and correct argumentation, and discourage gossip and straw-manning for example, but they wind up drawing the line and not crossing over to that level of detail, yet.
The final molding process lasts long enough for acute political animosity fueled by stereotypical bullshit to break out between 2 forces primarily consisting of two countries each, the official languages of which are all enclosed within the group's spectrum of competency. Realizing they're in a unique position to disarm a potential global catastrophe they begin writing stories and books, singing songs, shooting movies, playing forum-mafia, introducing a fad called 'flash drama' - whereby 2 or more strangers or loosely acquainted people meet up in a fairly crowded place, perform a premeditated action of theatrical character and then split - all using heir mashup language in order to promote it, parade its superiority and charm and make it cool.
A corporation that manufactures cybernetic implants for learning, memory and general cognitive-ability augmentation sees this as an opportunity to make publicity for their product, assimilating the group's efforts into their advertising campaign. "Learn 'insert name of mashup language here' in only 6 hours with our new state of the art implants, vouched for by 'insert name of by now famous woman here' the leading specialist and teacher of 'mashup language' worldwide.
Disaster averted, woman rich, famous, popular and on the forefront of neurobiology, nanotechnology and programming research thanks to her curiosity and free implants, provided by the corporation for their cooperation, she creates her own company with a revolutionary approach to realizing true artificial intelligence. How?
Well a trend of creating and sharing custom linguistic constructs develops, inspired by and mimicking the woman's group's mashup-language archetype, made possible by evermore efficient implant efficacy, and a subculture that seeks elegance and exploration of the boundaries of their newfound cyborg fitness, with her at the forefront. Harnessing the data of the trend-setters she starts coding an operating system that can code its own languages for programs based on real-life precedents provided by the scene.
