Specifically which kind of racism? I'm not sure how to take this statement because it can be taken in so many different ways? Do you mean that white people are racist against black people for a reason, and that reason is X, Y, or Z? Or are you saying black people are racist against white people for a reason, and that reason is X, Y, or Z? Are you attempting to justify racism? You've got your causality reversed. Institutional racism produces those outcomes (which individual racists may incorrectly use to justify their beliefs, but I don't think you're talking about individuals when you talk about "racism...in American culture."

Blacks are more likely to live in poor inner cities where crime is prevalent no matter what race, and those areas have more police available and get more police resources because they are high-crime areas, so a black committing a crime is more likely to be caught because the police catch them in the act or the police have better knowledge of the area and its inhabitants because it is a high crime area, so they have more avenues of information to find perpetrators of crime.
Blacks are a little less likely to join gangs than hispanics; both are well over 10 times more likely to join a gang than whites.
The one area where racism is a clear explanation for higher arrest, conviction (or plea deals with jail time) and incarceration rates among blacks and hispanics is the drug war. Other than that, not so much.

Recently I've been seeing a lot of "black-out" threat-esque twitter and facebook posts about how if Trayvonn doesn't get "justice," they will riot; any thoughts?

ive watched alot of this case and one thing that kind of bugs me about the system is how the prosecution has repeatedly referred to trayvon martin as a child, and other words like it. its smart to do so, but if the two people involved in this case were switched and the 17 year old killed a 28 year old, how hard would the state be pushing the hes an adult card

If the jury doesn't fall for the prosecution's appeal for "empathy" and "heart" then it should be a slam-dunk acquittal. The prosecution as MOM has stated quite nicely has not provided any sort of significant evidence that puts Zimmerman's story in doubt.
As for the riots, they're a distinct possibility, and will be completely the fault of the sensationalist media.

I don't think racism has ever been about hating on individuals, in my experience it is isn't even directed at the race itself but more the culture associated with that race.

You have a minority taking up the majority of space in prison. You have towns labelled as having high black population which is synonymous with high crime and poverty. Racism exists for a reason. Are you saying they bring the racism on themselves? Could you please explain your theory further?
Not familiar enough with US culture and history to say whether or not they brought it upon themselves. All I am saying is there is a direct correlation between race and criminal activity in the US.
Over here we have plenty of blacks too, however they have not formed their own subculture and are not known for being violent with a poor upbringing, as such there is little to no racism leveled at them.

There is only one charge, Murder 2. There is one additional instruction for manslaughter which they can find him guilty of if he's not guilty of murder 2. Other than that, it's not guilty. Verdict has to be unanimous either way, or it's a hung jury.
Having said that, I'm trying to understand how we have two jurors, one of which is married to an attorney, the other is the mother of an attorney. How could these two have made it without knowing much about the case ? I can't imagine there can be a unanimous verdict of guilty on either. I would imagine these 2 jurors would be well aware of the manslaughter mandatory minimums from their family before entering sequester, whether they admit it or not.
