i loved savior when i watched him play, and still admired him as a player when he fell. and this made me love him even more. it's so true, so much of what he does goes unnoticed because it's so subtle, but these things are what made him so good.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know for certain if there are restrains on Savior ever playing SC2?

I highly doubt that would ever happen, but if he wanted to play SC2 professionally in Korea, could he?

I don't know about foreign tournaments, but the GSL has banned everyone involved in match fixing from competing in thir tourneys.

Saviors greatness will probably be unmatched for ages to come. In BW, greats and legends are created through hardship through maps and matchup. In SC2, there is no legends and the greats just QQ/whine about balance. Man comparing the two games, I kinda wish SC2 never came out so I still stayed and play BW. Best read in ages. That post was so stupid that it hurts.

In this article Savior was complaining about map imbalances, just like many SC2 pros complained/complain about map imbalances in sc2.

But I guess that doesn't matter, you were just trying to find some way to bash sc2 anyway.

I got into BW shortly after the fall of savior. Right at the beginning of Bisu on MBCgame. This article completely changed my outlook on Savior, I knew he was amazing, but I never realised the extent of his dominance. What an outspoken and well written article. Thanks op.

You stated something that I never realised before. The reason people are drawn to races such as Terran and Protoss is because of the 'flashy' aspects such as marine micro that we can all clearly see. I never understood broodwar so I could never understand the reasons why zerg plays were so good. To me they just seemed so bland and boring. Through your dissection of saviors plays I have started to understand so many concepts that previously I would often not even think about.

People always stated that starcraft was much like chess and that the strategies executed were often rather complicated. Obviously I wasn't able to understand and all I ever saw was the amazing micro and macro from all of these players. Through your analysis I have realised that starcraft is in fact very much like chess and it really does take a tactical genius to be able to compete at the level that savior once did. At the same time, it saddens me that Starcraft 2 hasn't provided us with a platform for the exhibition of genius such as this.

God don't say that. Not being there for competitive brood war though being old enough to have played it when it was released, Flash Jaedong, Bisu are just distant players that are titans of brood war.

This not only gives a face and a human story to an otherwise top player; it inspires the greatest points of Zerg.
