If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. I feel the same. Although I feel like when I want to go, all the fun already happened so I just tell myself I would go next time but then I never end up doing it

Been lurking around this thread for soon a year just reading here and snapping up some anime here and there that you lot seem to think its good (it has a ~70% success rate so far!) and just in general been laughing at your amazing goofiness. You lot are definitively the sickest clique/group on TL! (Apart from Emnjay, screw that guy... :| )
So, to business. After recently being introduced to the amazing (but ridiculously time consuming) world of Visual Novels I recently ended up going through the Clannad one after recommendations from a friend. I thought it was really really good apart from like... 3? routes which were "meh". I never bothered to check out the Anime though, and I wonder if it's better/worse than the VN and overall worth a watch. If so, are there any striking differences between the two (I assume there are, but please try not to spoil too much if so!)
I have bad experience with playing games/reading books and then having the series/movies just ruin the whole experience I had from them and I'd preferably avoid it happening again so any help would be really sick.
Thanks in advance, and happy valentines day to all of you. Even the ones who are forever alone!
hahaha, this guy amuses me. As for Clannad anime vs VN, I've never played the VN. Apparently the VN is super incredibly long, and I can imagine it just dragging on in places. As for the anime, I thought that Clannad season 1 was kinda zzz myself, but alot of people swear by After Story. But like I said, dunno how it compares to the VN.
I played through the entire VN and I didn't feel like it dragged on at all. Took me probably more than 90 hours. It was a masterpiece imo, It follows the VN pretty closely except that the Hiiragi Kappei route is omitted and the fact that Nagisa is the only heroine Tomoya is after. Of course being only 49 episodes, you can't fit every scene in there, however If you have not seen the anime, would highly recommend it.

Hiiragi Kappei + Show Spoiler +You play as Tomoya,(You ONLY play as Tomoya) Hiiragi's friend and you help him get the resolve to live and eventually marry Ryou. Hilarious Yaoi scenes with Sunohara. One of the better routes imo, too bad it never got animated

+ Show Spoiler +gah how confusing lol to play as the main character and not get a girl but get a girl to someone else.
Also, any chance Holyland going to get an anime out of it soon or ever? The series is so good and is pretty far. I think an anime about now would be pretty damn good timing. The manga is also really really good. One of the few that I would of loved to see.

As far as I know, as soon as original work is created, it is copyrighted. So licence is not important.

I can't say I've played it all (too much work for me), but I've played through a few of the routes.
I always found it interesting that... + Show Spoiler + Ryou's route is a bad end.
And that we get a route for a cat lol.

So I was playing catch up with Natsume today and I must say + Show Spoiler +Sensei's "delicious" quote @ Sasada just made my day.

Has anyone been following the Last Exile sequel?

Yes, I watch it for the the amazing fleet movements and battlefield tactics as well as the ingenious use of elements like physics and terrain.

I dropped the new Last Exile at like ep7 or something. Wasn't enjoying it that much compared to the first and the princess annoyed me a ton (main factor to dropping it, actually). Also, not enough Tatiana. Probably will end up marathoning it later though.
So my friend recommended me Melo Holic... wtf kind of rec is this right after Valentine's Day? MC is some forever alone with zero relationship experience who meets a girl and then he starts trying to woo her I guess? With his supposedly expert relationship friend's help. That's all so far at ch8. No idea what to expect, to be honest.

It was more of a birthday present actually, cause preorders began like two days after my birthday (October). The valentines day stuff is more of a coincidence (offical release date of Vol 1), but still fun nonetheless.
