EPTThe thing with One Piece is that we know from the first chapter that Luffy wants to get to Raftel, find one piece and become the Pirate King, the end is out there and everybody knows. But what he really wants and what we want to see is the adventure and the journey until he gets there, all the other mangas are way more abstract, they are there and fight for something, enemys keep coming but OP we know who and what he must overcome and they still keep it interesting.. it's amazing!

Actually the fact that there is an end goal is the strength of One Piece. This way it won't end up like Dragonball and Naruto where it has turned into "who has the stronger power-up", that in the process has made every character but a selected few completely irrelevant because they lack said power-ups. | ||

But for something that long running, with so much content, OP is pretty much consitent. Like Berserk. What Dragonball lacks was a mastermind story, or whatever you want to call it. For example, after Cell, the manga was over but the crew asked Toriyama to continue and he did the boo saga. (also to mention the ideas how to make people stronger so they can keep up. krilin is just a human and will never reach ssj2 or higher status. even his potential, which was released on Namek, is incredible) edit: so far, OP feels like Oda has a plan what will come until the end...so he can fix plotholes before they even can start....kinda... | ||

I wouldn't really compare devil leg and 9 sworld style with Super Saiyan or Sage Mode. Devil leg and 9 sword style are both techniques rather than power-ups, and are also something that is very character specific. In the end of Dragonball all that mattered was who had their wierder hairstyle, and Naruto has also pretty much turned into this. | ||

So many lies, Naruto is all about having the weirdest eyes. And the part about Luffy and his crew being rookies isn't that far from reality. Impel Down and Marineford were huge, and at the same time Luffy was just a single part of what happened. He went down the prison with a lot of help, got his ass kicked by Magellan, and escaped because a lot of strong people were with him. The same can be told for Marineford, Luffy didn't really shine because of his strength, but because of his will and conqueror haki. He took so many hits - while dealing a lot - just trying to move to Ace. Being named a "rookie", as a rookie elite pirate, doesn't bother me. | ||

This It was at no point in time hinted that Luffy was anywhere near the strongest in the world. He was easily defeated by Megellan and was not even deemed worthy of level 6 at Impel Down. Also the term rookie does not indicate skill or strength, but merely the fact that a person has recently raised to prominence. A person can be a rookie and a genius at the same time. | ||
