Wait, I've got it! The person who Jellal meets is Lucy's Mom! She has a mysterious connection to the dragons, she's a woman, she'd make Jellal mistake her for someone he knows (Lucy) until he looks harder, and: IT'S ALL SO CLEAR NOW
She has a connection or at least knows about the magic Hades was trying to get which has a connection to Zeref (why Jellal was sensing Zeref's magic).

2. if she isnt dead how shed fake her death even to her celestial spirits

also Jellal isnt dumb enough to think shes lucy

also even if she has a connection to Zeref shed have to actually be using his magical power to have Jellal think that shes Zeref

I have a question that's kind of hard to find through browsing without beeing spoiled completely, and I've done my fair share of attempts and there just seems to be a lack of info on this matter;

Where are the manga compared to the anime? As in what chapter in the manga "represents" what episode(s) in the anime, and where is it at right now?

thats a pretty hard question to really answer due to fillers and things

the easiest way to answer that question would probably be in arcs (like say phantom guild arc is chapters XXX-XXX and in the anime its episode XX-XX) is there a specific part your looking for?

also cant say for certain but anime should be lagging behind manga by a good bit

. I'm not looking for any specific part, I'm mostly just curious as to how far behind the anime is to the manga, and how much content it has to work with as I've followed the anime and it is so far one of the better shounens that doesnt have a bunch of fillers (atleast until where I am, around episde 125).

If it's Lucy's mom, then it would kind of make sense that at first glance, Jellal can easily mistake her for Lucy especially when he doesn't know Lucy's mom by sight.
From what I can tell, mages do have certain auras around them that can be perceived by other high class mages. Mages can both release magic power at will, but also have some leaking out constantly. This is just a theory though, but it goes along with what we saw in Zeref, where he was so strong his magic power was having visible effects on the environment.

i think the person Gajeel found was the lady council person, she was present at Tenrou island 7 years ago, she was around when Gajeel first lost the mysterious signature its possible that the fleeing council peeps and Zeref somehow met up or perhaps met some other time in the 7 years
