if EG reaches the next level of cohesion they are going to be absurdly hard to beat. That 2-0 vs Newbee showed some of the potential, just absolute dominance by a team that understands exactly what they want to do and how to do it

The next tournament is very annoying for me in terms of schedule/tournament system. When it was announced it was a Swiss System i thought oh wow this is going to be great! Then i learn its a full BO1 swiss system...wow. Top 8 are determined solely by a BO1 swiss system... Which after watching the BO1s in the ESL events only, anyone can beat anyone and it screws the result up. So i have no idea and expect huge shocks in this tournament now. Just hoping EG get some favorable ties.

It's the fairest way to determine seeding - far better than a random drawing of groups. I think all you need to do is win 3 BO1s to advance. EG should do this when a quarter of the field is paiN, Vega, coL

Going x-3 means you're out, but getting 3 wins somewhere along the line means you'll advance to the playoffs. I like this better than the Group A-Group B double elimination format.

I like this better than the Group A-Group B double elimination format. I think a "BO1" (16 rounds) in CSGO is a little more reliable than in Dota (1 game). However, Swiss bo1 is OK in dota I think. 1 bo1 is a little random since off-day + off-game, OK you lost. With 5 games, if you have a few off-days and off-games in a row, even bo1, you probably don't deserve to move forward. The next step would be swiss bo3, of course this is more reliable but the number of games explodes.

The following tournament (Starladder) did it a properly though a huge 16 team BO3 swiss group stage which was awesome, everyone liked that tournament :D BO1 is so hard and the issue becomes seeding after wards. You seed for the first round but after that its a lottery of winners vs winners and losers vs losers. Take ESL first round as an example and loser games you could have had Newbee vs EG loser goes 0/2 and is one bo1 away from elimination. Or the winners game could have been Fnatic vs Kinguin winner is 1 bo1 away from qualifying etc. All comes down to draw which is why even in the CSGO version they normally have 1st round bo1, then bo3 afterwards. We shall see, i just hope EG get a bit lucky in who they play vs! We also seem to never win BO1 games xD

I'm interested if we'll ever see a WCS style format, except top 3 advance, and bottom team is eliminated (instead of 2+2). 4 groups of 4 -> 3 groups of 4 -> 2 groups of 4 -> 8 team playoff + loser bracket because it's dota ![]()

Looked a bit grim in the beginning there, and Fear has probably never died so many times in one game, but I had a good feeling today, happy the boys managed to get the W here ![]()
