Judging from the hotbid interviews, DK doesn't seem to be the team on everyone's mind anymore. Maybe that plays out to our advantage. I'm starting to get pretty nervous though.
what was said that makes you feel that way? i haven't been able to catch the interviews yet

A lot of teams believe that DK had a lot of exposure to Western teams and generally seem more afraid of IG because of they seem to have gotten things together or Newbee because of their lack of exposure against Western teams.
And seems everyone forgot about LGD, to be honest LGD weren't playing so much lately and were probbaly preparing very hard. I think we need to have a close eye on them.
Tbh I'm quite worried about the form of Mushi and Ice^3. Anything less than their perfect 6.79 forms will not be enough for DK to get pass the big guns (iG, NB).

i'm sure LGD prepared their asses off, but until 820 can teach the team direction, they will remain the chinese #5 team.
the difference between LGD without 820 in the booth and LGD with 820 in the booth is very clear. LGD had 820 for MarsTV and the TI4 qualifiers, where they looked great. everywhere else, since losing xiao8, LGD have left much to be desired.

The hotbid interviews suggest poor (for their standard) scrim results for DK.
2-2 Na'vi 3-7 TL Losses to EG
Of course, DK has shown poor scrims before Starladder and TheSummit as well.

I have some difficulty reconciling especially the DK-VG record to their public matches/form. if it's true that DK doesn't take scrims super seriously, then I can understand teams not bothering with DK scrims. hell, they picked a Zeus and huskar in an official match.
of course this is just my personal speculation haha
i posted this somewhere before, seems relevant again :D

In an interview at the airport before the flight to Seattle, 820 said that LGD's goal for TI4 was to reach top 8, and to try to take as many points as possible off non-Chinese teams. Seriously....this China vs the world mentality is so last century. Report 820 please.

What annoys me is the "for China" mentality. You'll constantly hear players saying they want to bring back titles to China, winning for China, etc etc. And it happens across all sports too. I don't know what it is, but it's beginning to annoy me. --- I've also never heard of DK winning a scrim, so personally I'm not too worried
i don't think the "for my country" attitude is so bad, national pride is a huge thing (especially in china and just about every other east asian country). i mean i'd be pretty stoked if i represented my country at a sport or event and did well, and knew i had the support of my country at home.
my country vs. other countries will always remain a strong point. i mean when the western media perpetuate this same "china vs. the world" mentality, it's gonna take a lot to change. i don't think it's even that bad an attitude, there has to be some invested emotion.
maybe it's that you're both non-mainland chinese speakers that makes the nationalistic attitude irk you so ;p

I don't mind national pride, but you have to admit it's a little cheesy sounding when almost half the teams in attendance are trying to bring home the trophy for China lol
Another 71 interview, in which he calls iceiceice noob. :D
hype hype~ I like how he says that DK doesn't have a fixed style. As much as I like watching BurNIng hard-carry, flexibile in playstyles makes for good spectating :D
71 attributed these scrim lost to Ice^3 noobness
I start to wonder since evidently DK doesn't take scrim that serious other teams in China might getting tired of it and wouldn't scrim with them anymore, i.e 'if you're not taking this seriously why do I even bother in the first place'
DK sucks at scrimming apparently. IMO that's a good thing - they will not be complacent come the actual match. They will not underestimate any team. And weirdly enough, they'd be underestimated badly (I remember the pre-SL interview where EG 2-0d DK in scrims then got annihilated 2-0 in the semis). It was a wake up call for EG though and they rallied back at the Summit, but DK's scrim results simply show how any team can beat any other team in practice, but not necessarily in the actual tournament.
And I do believe that DK actually takes theorycrafting on another level during scrims, trying to apply them in a game scenario and paying for it with losses. It's ok though, so long as you get something out of that.
