I just watched Merlini get converted to Overwhelming Odds. Went one level in Press, one in Moment, and then at level 3 got his first point in OO. Cast it on the enemy dual lane, took off a third of each hero's health, and turned into a racecar.

He started to believe.

What's wrong is the assumption that it is a exceedingly rare item. It's no Dragon Claw or Golden Rosh. It's just not as common as the super common immortals.
