It'd be cool to see mini get over his nerves and make it to the finals, because mechanically he's a great player that's fun to watch, but he just gets so easily tilted when the pressure's on.

They thought Calm was banking resources, and he also had a lot of larva. But he wasn't because one of the computers was bugged and not registering the resources spend. They switched what the viewer said back to some point and you saw the resources for both jump to their actual values. I don't know what Tasteless saw. He said he saw a 'different game', but I don't know if he means just the counting overlay, or the entire game. It would be strange if one computer really showed a a game as if it was a bugged out replay, because they aren't casting replays (are they?). I suppose it might've been the resource tab only. There was a peculiar mis-storm at the time though, as well as some weird hydra movements by Calm, but the games had scrappy moments here and there so its not a wonder. ![]()

It would be strange if one computer really showed a a game as if it was a bugged out replay, because they aren't casting replays (are they?). there's two monitors at the casting desk. one is of the broadcast feed that we all see at home. the other is of the observer's screen only (so basically what we would see if we were in the game itself). when production caught that the main observer client was bugged, the broadcast switched to one of the alternate observing pc's and which wasn't affected by the desync bug. however, for the duration of the game, tasteless (who sits on the side where the raw game feed is) had to deal with the desync'd game and had to cast off artosis' monitor.

Everyone already matching Mini with EffOrt but how you all already count out Mind? If he plays well he's a serial zerg killer. Just go and watch some Mind TvZ and none of them vs. any zerg will disappoint. If EffOrt is on fire like last season he will advance for sure.

mind didnt have a great overall offline performance since 2015 while effort is the defending champion and has looked rock steady enroute to this ro8 so its obv effort is the favorite.

Sorry to talk bad about a pro gamer, but I'm blown away at how horribly Calm played this entire series. Hopefully EffOrt beats Mind tonight so we can see a real PvZ series in the ro4. Once again, no offense to Calm but everything about the way he played was absolutely terrible.

It wasn't absolutely terrible, but he did not play at the level that we have come to expect from an ASL Ro8. The way I see it is that Calm just... fooled everybody lol. He fooled Miso, he fooled Last, he fooled us all into thinking he was an S-class player. As soon as I saw that lazy Zergling all-in game one, his minerals floating over 350, no natural expansion, I knew what was about to go down. Starcraft is deep enough that players can sometimes win games through mostly tricks and mindgames. I honestly really admire that aspect of competition. But in the round of 8 of an ASL, it just isn't enough. Congrats to Mini!

But in the round of 8 of an ASL, it just isn't enough. Congrats to Mini! Yeah his mindgames and prep were really impressive in the Ro24/Ro16. What's weird to me is that his mechanics seems pretty close to par in his game vs snow (generally competent micro/macro), but looked really sloppy vs mini. Maybe mini used openings calm wasn't expecting, or just knew that being aggressive in the early game was enough to off-set calm's focus. In 2009-2010 Calm was a fantastic player who had pretty good mechanics (not THE BEST but still on-par with most pro zergs) and great preparation and strategies. Now his mechanics are just so far behind he doesn't stand a chance vs a top player in a Bo5. It was honestly impressive that he won that first game vs mini haha.
