If you play icedraco or whomever starting off with set 1, there shouldn't be a 3-0, as the score would read 1-0 if icedraco would win, so that he be given the chance to get an all-kill, and it can't end up being icedraco winning the first game, and all of a sudden KaiGreene comes out of nowhere to win the next 3 games against people other than icedraco, only to have icedraco come back in the 5th set to play someone that isn't KaiGreene. It'd just ruin the format.

The idea is that instead of walking over Icedraco, and going up 1-0, a different person is allowed the "start" instead of him. Basically, just conceptualize it as their starter being + Show Spoiler + instead of Icedraco. I wouldn't want to force sB into an automatic 0-1 score simply because their starter didn't show.
If you think of it that way the format isn't really damaged and it gives sB the chance to still play their games. Basically, walkovers suck and I feel they should be avoided to all costs, hence the invitation to sB to work with us to still play a full series.
