gtfo great arrogant? thats the standard counter against turtle mech lol Yes, I think arrogant fits it quite well. He had the game in the bag and stopped microing his armies because he thought he couldnt lose anymore. Yeap, just like Bisu vs Iris in Avalon multiple a-moves into loss well, that one was due to Bisu not knowing Iris had an extra base I think Yes, but what about the part where he let a nexus die to 4 vultures, and then another to 1 tank and 2 vultures? He kept slammed hallucinated zealots and some archons into Iris' defenses... Ah, I've clearly watched that game too many times... it was a great series!

OP, the last set deserves a recommendation.

gtfo great In fairness he used them well. They just aren't the best option. hydra + muta + ling (mixture varying depending on what he has) is your ZvMech standard. Gas will probably stockpile, you can make plenty of scourge and you can easily afford guardians, which are actually pretty good against mech if you use them right. Defilers are fine, but you don't want to rely on them. You don't really need to rely on muta stacking either. One of the main purposes of the mutas is to force him to spend money on gols. vult+tank decimates ground...
He had so many vessels and mutas are not upgraded. At most a few tanks down. But he will eventually need ultra/ling/swarm to break the line. Great is behind on upgrades and should have harrass econ instead. He turtled against Terran when he knows T > all at late game.

imo only mid game is worth a watch, then it's the same thing over and over, into a very tense late game (in a good way, if you're watching it live), then just dragged out. Not recommended at all.

Vessels aren't such a major problem when you are not relying on stacked mutas. Easy to invest +1 or +2 carapace. Each upgrade reduces goliath damage by 2. Meanwhile vessels are utterly worthless against hydras, which is a key muscle unit. For an example of using muta+hydra in Z v Mech, watch Mondragon vs Brat_OK on Destination from the last TSL.

How hydra/ling beat 3/3 tanks? Any land units are going to melt. He can make 1 group of mutas to surprise midas but i doubt it gonna work on such high level. Some gols(he already had some gols in his mix) and irradiates will solve the problem, stacked or not. Zerg/Protoss has a chance to win the matchup before it gets to this point. Both rely on outplaying the def, harrass & follow up against terran to win.

You probably don't have a lot of expirience with TvZ mech.
Mutalisk can tank a lot of goliath dmg and kill tanks pretty easy and are relatively cheap. Hydras die quickly to tanks but beat goliaths and have a lot of dps and are cheap. Zerglings can be sacrificed to tank fire because they are cheap.
Aside from that, Zero has proven that Queen are pretty good vs mech because of broodlings

I'm happy that WMF won, but I want stork to win the OSL, so...
MUST CONFISCATE
|
I think the 3 weeks of anticipation (players were notified of the gift 3 weeks prior to delivery) served as good motivation.
Once it arrived... Stork: GUYS LETS (play this app) TOGETHER LAWL Rest of the team: HERP DERP YEAH January: ... *facepalm*

These only worked on mid game when T don't have 200/200 3/3. Hydra/ling rushing/dropping onto tanks at this point of game are worse than ultra/ling, not to mention it will dry up the larvae. Morever Great didnt have 3/3 on his air, no zerg will upgrade unless he is going muta the whole game. Also, he needs stacked 1.5~2k gas to produce that much mutas for impact. Midas will definitely know it if the land units deplete.
|
I'm pretty sure great had a timing to doom drop Midas' 3rd and 4th bases and would have earned the GG. What he did was waste every vein of his crystal and gas reserves by attacking Midas at his strongest point. He didnt even need to break that tank line, just let it stay where it was. That was such bad decision making. Another player like Soulkey would have finished that game long before he even started thinking about mining out.
