They just aren't the best option. hydra + muta + ling (mixture varying depending on what he has) is your ZvMech standard. Gas will probably stockpile, you can make plenty of scourge and you can easily afford guardians, which are actually pretty good against mech if you use them right. Defilers are fine, but you don't want to rely on them. You don't really need to rely on muta stacking either. One of the main purposes of the mutas is to force him to spend money on gols. vult+tank decimates ground... | ||

Midas army was pretty close to his base and he had turrets there as well(supply line was pretty short). I really don't think things would have gone so smoothly with mutas.
