Yeah i used to think having coaches for pro teams was a ridiculous idea but Daniel Lee really makes the obvious even more obvious and I'm sure he is actually a really good asset to have to a starcraft player

These are show matches so I am perfectly happy seeing matches against S class pros. If it's really that bad, alternate or something. One match against a practice partner and another vs an S class pro. If you want to keep viewership high, the big names will help do that. I'm probably the exception, but I actually enjoy watching my favorite pros dismantle people. Irregardless of whom that is.

I agree that it should be more vs practice partners than vs the top pros. It's not like you can hope to learn anything of value by picking the wrong BO vs a cheesey T and getting bunkered, or witnessing how much better pro micro is by getting killed with FD on Blue Storm of all maps. Games vs better players but not freakishly better players would be much more enjoyable.

Artosis can learn a lot from Daniel Lee. Artosis has always been, since he started commentary, afraid to make definitive statements about what player will do / what will happen / etc. Daniel Lee does it in a way that's really nice. Also, Daniel Lee doesn't use verbal crutches like "can't stress enough". I think Artosis could be a really great commentator if he gets past those two things because he comes across clearly and with a strong voice in the recordings, he just seems to hold back his game knowledge too much

I agree with some things from both Phyre and Louder's posts. Of course, having people face up against big names is exciting, and will keep up viewership - but again from the other perspective, you've got the predictability of the outcome at about 99%. The main reason for these showmatches (as far I as know) was to scout out potential in foreigners, and how do you see potential when you get raped every game? Of course, I love watching the big names, so I hope you keep those as well. It's just something that will need to be looked on from both sides of the argument.

Although Artosis is a great commentator already, Louder's comments and suggestions are true as well. Yay for Spirit!

Artosis I love the vods but what's the point of commentating if you can't hear the comments? Have you tried listening to some of the vods? Tossgirl vs Cloud was imo the worst sound mix so far.

I'd rather have the game sound off completly than this!

true, he doesn't come across like someone who's nearly as good as the people playing. he should point out the ups and downs of particular builds more regardless of what's going on in the games. I think he could do that in between commenting about the actual games.

Also you don't need to back up everything Lee says with "Absolutely" or "Indeed". It's okay to say that a couple of times, but you say it almost always. We know he's been a coach for a very long time and that the insight he gives is valid. I think it would be better if you question what he says more often, so that he has to explain what he says more. Just to get more information out of him.

Anyways, keep up the good work. Scforall has really good content, I'm visiting your site every day.

This topic reads like if the sound problem is not existent for everyone.

It's not only the volume. Listen to the sound the probes mining make. Is the sample rate very low? And it seems that the game sound reduces the commentator sound to like 0% at some times.

100% worse sound quality then ever. I've never every vod and its the only one with a sound issue for me.

Okay.. the Cloud video just loaded for me but the audio quality is so bad that its unwatchable.

Also, the in-game sound is wayy louder than the commentary volume leading to much fuzziness and deafening

Or just upload separate mp3s if they can't figure out the sound mix, so that we can combine the two audio streams for a pleasurable listen. The Cloud vs Tossgirl one was the worst VOD sound mix I have ever heard, I picked out about 10 words total.

I had about 30-40 seconds of un hearable talking in the entire vod. I was able to hear almost everything, it just sounded like BW was on an acid trip with me!

I'm kinda sad at how that game against Tossgirl went :x Actually I've never seen the build used by any terran on Othello so I thought she was just hiding a CC ready to fly on the spot instead of an hidden starport. That took me way behind for the whole game and I didn't have enough dragoons to counter the vulture harass at the mid of the map, so I had to play defensively the whole game.
Well she played good anyway, but honestly I feel like I could beat her in that game if I scouted the starport better and didn't lose half of my economy in the first minutes. Well I guess I'll play spirit ladder very hard in the hope to get another match and win the next time [image loading]
