I hate when people write gg before me, then I usually dont leave (in fact if I dont leave it's because I believe I can win - and sometimes it happens lol).

I know most people don't use gg like that but I don't care. I don't really care if they quit without gg either.

I won the game, but I left first because I have a habit of leaving the game after saying GG. hehehe, thanks for the laugh! And to the person saying that they gg even if the other guy was being bm, I too make a point out of gg'ing if my opponent behaves like a douchebag. Feels as a moral victory, to me at least! :D

seriously, GG stands for good game. i've played games where I fucked myself over on my own, or just played flat out horribly. maybe say "well played" or something, but it isn't exactly a good game. One that comes to mind is when I played Terran and was opening mech TvZ on medusa, and it looked like nothing could fit between the top of my depot and the water @ 11 o clock position and he just ran right in and killed me. completely my fault for not knowing this, but it sure wasn't a good game. if you want to be 'manner' and say it 100% it's up to you, but if you expect one 100% I think that's pretty lame.

Also it makes korean SC commentating better when they yell "GG"[/QUOTE] Yes, but if I play some random game against friends / at C- level on iccup, is an "official surrender" really called for? I might take things more seriously if I were better at the game, but I'm just messing around. Certainly if I were ever in some kind of tournament official match I'd do it - but there's a Surrender option in the in-game menu, and for a player like me that's plenty "official" enough most of the time.

![]() I do feel opponent is a little bad mannered if he doesnt write anything after a decent game, it feels like i have left him frustrated with something. I feel the best if opponent comments the game after he has lost, like "haha that was some great base razing, GG ![]()

The only words that come out of me are "gogo". Don't care at all if the opponent does or doesn't gg himself. I just hope he wont trash talk at the end. I completely don't care about being "gm" or having good etiquette.

But I would not message someone who leaves without a gg or bm me, it's just not worth the drama, it's not like I will succeed in converting them to good manners or something. I just make a smiley and wait for them to leave. The problem with my philosophy is that I can respect someone who even tries to use psychology to gain an advantage through typing whatever, weird stuff, friendly stuff, questions and or/bm. It's hard for me to explain but the win is actually more important to me than manners even though I value it very highly. (and I say to "me" but I mean to say winning for anyone, a person that uses whatever means to win). BUT, that is when the game are underway or when a set is underway. When the game or the set is done and a winner is set if you are still behaving like a child through excuses or bad mannered talk then I will have nothing to do with you, use anything and everything to win but respect the winner AND the looser that fought (be it you or your opponent). EDIT: A big point of this is that when you are doing everything in your power to win this is respectful both to yourself and also to your opponent. He has to be able to overcome everything you throw at him and if he does this then he should be worthy of your respect -> usually by the show of manners. Also if you proove too strong he should acknowledge your power -> usually by the show of manners. I get really disheartened by seeing all the replies in this thread that say "Don't be so serious" because if it's one thing that should be taken seriously it is the concious drive to improve your game and win no matter what, to me it's comparable to any similar activity as the pursuit to become a great artist, musician, athlete, chess player, CEO, etcetera and should be respected as such.
