how does yarnc have a map advantage, it's a mirror match, no one has an advantage. unless ur Zero playing on Holy World, the neutral command center gives him special powers.

If anyone can win the diamond mouse it would be Jaedong . I'm trying to not get ahead of myself here but a well rested, hungry,JD (Who's only in one league) is his best matchup away from the golden mouse. And it doesn't look like JD is gonna slow down any time soon.

a well rested JD is a JD on the same skill level as the other zergs... his advantage is his unhumanly practise and the maps.
after this zerg age there will be much less zergs in the starleague's last rounds and maybe JD will be eliminated in round of 16 like Bisu or other good players were this time.

i dont think anyone will ever get platinum mouse or even diamond mouse. at first JD has to win his golden mouse, and if he looses who knows when he will reach the finals again...

... I don't usually jump to defend players' skills, since the debate often ends in stupidity, but I think it's terribly base to say that Jaedong is on the same skill level as other zergs ... no one is currently on par with Jaedong. Certainly, he may blow out after this OSL and achieve nothing at all, but at this moment Jaedong is godlike (67% winrate, as opposed to Effort with 63% and Calm with 56%).

He didn't really say that. He was merely pointing out that "well rested" doesn't really coincide with what Jaedong does. Jaedong practices at intense amounts, much more than others. That's why he IS above everyone else. If he doesn't practice and just rests, then he'll fall back on par with many other zergs. Maybe an overstatement, but he wasn't saying what you are saying.

So you're saying if JD doesn't practice but other zergs do, he'll be at their level?

BoxeR got 3 silvers in OSLs after he won his first two. So each of those losses, he got to see the Golden Mouse through his booth that would never get into his hands.

I think he's referring to like the four times Boxer got second place after his back to back OSL runs (Garimto, Reach, Oov, Anytime). Poor Boxer shoulda had that damn mouse so many times. =(

Edit for beaten, but I got the number of silvers right.

Well, when you go to the OSL finals thread and look at the map stats, Yarnc stats are slightly better, thus why I said he had a small advantage.

Nah, unless I'm terribly mistaken, the idea of the golden mouse was only created before Boxer's last OSL final which was against Anytime (OSL So1). It didn't exist when he faced Garimto, Reach and Iloveoov.

According to Liquipedia, the mouse should be valued around $8000, so Jaedong is getting cheated.

Hmmm.
That liquipedia article is probably based on this thread.

The original link to the Fighterforum source article in that thread isn't working, because FiFo was taken over by afreeca. The old articles do still exist, but they are a little annoying to find, since the news ids of the old FiFo articles changed when they were incorporated into the afreeca database. Took me a bit too find it, but here is the original source article for the 1st golden mouse anyway.

The article says the golden mouse is worth 8 million won, which was around 7670 USD on November 4th 2005 (source: IMF chart with conversion rates for November 2005), with today's conversion rate it would be around 6535 USD. So the op of the November 2005 TL thread about the golden mouse was a little generous with the 8000 USD figure and and well yeah, the conversion rate changed like I said.

Not sure why fomos says the mouse is worth 7million won now, when it was 8million in November 2005. Can't be bothered to check for differences in the prices for gold in November 2005 and August 2009 though.

Awesome research . The op merely stated that the gold alone is worth 7 Million Won, I suppose the manufacturing and other materials might have their price too, possibly the missing Million.

from http://gold.unanimocracy.com/2005/11/
Gold closed today on the NY gold market at US$499.90, but after hours open market pricing is fluctuating between US$499 and US$501.

on aug 17, from http://goldprice.org/silver-and-gold-prices/2009_08_01_archive.html

Gold Price Close Today : 934.30

So it would look like, if anything, the price of gold has gone way way up.
