The nerd jock (using the american term or 'hard kids' as we like to say)
are the kind of people who say ahhh Skyrim, sucked after playing 10 minutes of it. Or dishonoured sucked after watching a lets play. These are the most annoying people IN THE WORLD, theres a lot of games i hate ( i wont name them) but i seem to like the ones that get beaten up on by the nerd jocks e.g, skyrim, dishonoured.
Looking for their post history their is never any positive comments only moaning or flaming (which will probably happen to this post xD, bring it on nerd jocks :D) so if they hate everything why are these people playing these games and talking about them on forums is it just wanting to be different?

As Tasteless once said, there are nerds, and then there are NeeeEEEeeeEEEeeEErrRRrrds.

I like the kids that say Skyrim sucked after playing 100 hours of it more. Sure people that dismiss something immediately are generally a nuisance to any discussion but the ones that are really a pain in the ass are the ones that devotedly play a game then incessantly whinge about it to act cool.

I am one of those guys, who will tell you skyrim sucked, after playing 10 minutes of it. And I will do so for a lot of other games aswell. Why playing those games? Well because I am a gamer, and I love to play games! So from time to time I get nostalgic and browse through old game magazines and check all those funky games out from 1997! xD And what I learned is that games back then weren't better. Nor is my memory blurred. There was a lot of crap during the infant stages of the gaming industry, actually, and this is the important difference between now and then, there were a TON MORE crappy games. People were ready to experiment. A game didn't cost 50 million to make. People failed and recovered. And since they tried much more they got lucky more often. Now with big established firms, they are scared to death. If they fail 50 people will lose their jobs, houses you name it. Those playful nerds of the first hour that were ready to discover new things are scarecats. So they rather make the Elder scrolls 5 instead of the Dragontails 1, because new = risky. Don't get me wrong. I love modern graphics, I like intelligent user-interfaces. But playing Daggerfall and just having ones mind blown by the possibilities within the game, for the first time ever, not only for you, but for all of gaming history is just 10x more impressive than the same thing for the 5th time in prettier and dumbed down.
So why trashtalking those games? Well for me, it is not about the games, it is about the industry. I want a risky world where everything is possible. A world where I will discover a baldursgate, a deus ex, a thief every year - and not live though the hell of old gameplay - dragging itself back on stage like boxer who's carreer should have been over 10 years ago.
And not that modern games that rock the world don't exist, (EA-skate! :D), they are just so much rarer to come by because of all those lazy pricks selling us the same shit for the 100x time.

I am a total nerd jock haha. Basically everything but Starcraft sucks!!
Oh wait, maybe I am just an elitist? It's kind of difficult these days with all the nerd categorizations...

You're an elitist when you're incontrovertibly right. At least if you're saying Starcraft is the best game ever made. If not then I'll change the definition.

i am very critical because i have already spent my allocated amount of life playing games and cant really afford to spend any more. i am now waiting for the perfect game to come along, and am constantly disappointed.
i can understand how games can be great for certain audiences, and have fantastic ideas & implementation, but personally they are just not good enough for me.
skyrim, dishonoured, planetside 2, dayz, the endless list goes on...
i understand i am missing out on a lot of things because i dont experience the storyline of games like mass effect, halo 2, dues ex. but even then my "perfect game" is narrowed so finely to being a "open world pk mmo" that i dont even care so much to play anything else except to sample the gameplay for a brief while.
i say dishonoured sucks because it does suck for my extremely narrow personal requirements for a game. it sucks for me, because i only have time & energy now for the best of the best. things like FF7, BW and MUDs (which can be of unmatchable detail & quality), and wasting sooo many hours of my life already, plus the fact that im not part of a community of gaming friends (so dont play things for the multiplayer aspect eg minecraft), have made me this way

I thought this was gonna be about the phenomenon of nerds who play games all day being really worried about going to the gym and trying to be athletic in some misguided effort to counteract stereotypes that nerds are out of shape and don't socialize or leave the house.
It is the mission of every nerd jock to describe in detail the workout routine he or she follows in a post on the internet. To track the progress of their tedious life of trying to achieve social acceptance.
This thing about not liking some games tho is hard to care about. If I play a game for 10 minutes and don't enjoy it, I'll probably stop playing it too. I might just say it's not my cup of tea, instead of saying it sucks, but essentially it's just a politeness thing.

I am really not a very nerdy type of person. The only video game or nerdy thing I do is SC2 and I must say nerds complaining about other nerds not liking the same games is kinda sad...
BTW Skyrim is pretty shit.

I played well over 500 hours of morrowind+expansions and clocked in north of 100 or so hours in oblivion. I cant for the life of me play skyrim. I tried like on 10-15 separate attempts to just finish the story without shutting the shit down in boredom or disinterest and I just cant do it. Skyrim really does suck bad.

Oh god I know those people. At the end of year ten EVERYONE was playing dota. 99% of people where below pubtrash (Dying to towers at the 0:30 mark, pure autoattacks, etc) All these sporty kids just started playing dota, and since I had been playing warcraft 3 casually for the last 3 years, I was king

Pretty sure we Americans don't have the term "nerd jocks" o.O
You mean elitists? They don't have to be nerds >.> People who always bitch and moan about things? Jerks? Closed-minded people? Fundamentalists?
I'm not sure what you mean. But these people will probably appear everywhere you go, especially on the internet, where you can be anonymous.

Is the word "jock" used differently in the UK? I don't really understand what you're trying to convey with that phrase. Are you talking about gamers with short attention spans? Are you talking about gamers with negative attitudes? Neither of those make sense as a definition of "nerd jock"...

jock is not used in the uk ever
