This book is terrible. Dont' bother listening. + Show Spoiler + I thought that maybe the shit with the Maer might redeem the 365 pages of beginning bullshit I had to endure, but nope. What a piece of shit. Good fucking god, don't even talk about Felurian. I mean. What the fuck. He had to have run out of steam, b/c not only is this character more Mary Sue than any I've seen in a long time, there's just no fucking plot. None atl all. It's just a bunch of idle fucking wish fulfillment. Sounding jaded? You bet your ass. This book doesn't deserve its rating. Its predecessor was around 3/5 stars. 1/5. | ||

I enjoyed Wise Man's Fear (and the Name of the Wind) but I definitely think there's merit in those criticisms. The main plot arcs move much slower than I'd hoped for in both books and every foreshadowed major event (how Kvothe earns the epithet 'the Bloodless', Felurian) ends up being somewhat underwhelming. Rothfuss is a good enough storyteller and Kvothe has a strong enough voice to keep me interested, however. | ||
