This is an amazing, FANTASTIC series.
It goes as deep into human psychology as you can ask for.
You see qualified business men and women making REDICULOUS business choices.
You see the politics between alpha male and alpha male, or alpha male and alpha female.
You see woman "pecking" at each other like "hens" to gain a subtle dominance.
The Apprentice UK is seriously one of the most interesting series of television you will see today.
My other favourite series are "Curb your enthusiam" and "Elfen lied" - if you like those then you can trust in my judgement:
1. Download the application "bitche"
2. Search bitche for "apprentice 6"
3. Download episodes and prepare to be excited and dumbfounded
The Apprentice is really a program you should be watching.

Haha, im watching s6 atm.
I watched some literally random eps from previous series, since they dont seem to be popular torrents (what the fuck).
Some of the things ive seen are literally diabolical.
I wish someone like Mightyatom or rekinc would pick me up because I would uttery destroy the kind of garbage I see from this series. But damn it is so interesting to watch

I started watching this last season. I like it more because it tends to be more about making money as the bottom line, not "which X subjectively looks better". Also no stupid celebrities dickswinging to see who has more rich friends.

I'm joking, I see what you're saying and yeah, Lord Sugar isn't the most pleasant person in the world but he's better than Donald Trump IMO.

how much (of the time) is spent showing competitors bashing each other, vs time spent showing them doing the challenges?
I got tired of the american version as it shifted more and more to showing drama rather than competition, perhaps I'd like the UK one?

This is my favourite show for the entertainment value and Lord Alan Sugar, reading his biography, 'What you see is what you get' right now (boring as hell though lol). It is considerably better than the Trump version (although I would say, the first 3-4 seasons of the Trump version were very very good), but one particularly good series was 'UK junior apprentice' because I think it shows 2 things: 1. passion -which is not bound by age. 2. confidence and drive -which again is not bound by age.
In most cases, the applicants don't really understand business on multiple levels, meaning that, like every social enterprise or anything of achievement takes mental toughness to operate at the same level of performance day in and day out. Also, the way the tasks are set up, it does mimic what it would be like to be in a crisis or start up situation and Lord Alan Sugar, in my own estimations, is quite 'just' and 'fair' and does give fair warning to his decisions (most of the time).
If I was on the show, I wouldn't be some smiling happy individual going through the tasks, I'd have my hair cut short, all my clothes out for the week and just get on with the task and not play any politics, but just try to be on the winning team each week. But I'd probably get fired by the second week because you can't guarantee to win every task and if you don't play some level of politics then you may win every boardroom fight, but the fact that you keep getting called in on the firing line does work against you in the long run.
But in real life, I would be cursing 24/7, drinking unlimited amounts of coffee and smoking here and there and would just zone out on the project and they wouldn't be any friendly banter, just a high five if we got progress and a 'are you fucking stupid, why the fuck would you do that' or 'do you really think that will fucking work you fucking idiot, why not spend a couple more minutes thinking of a solution that actually does work..etc' But one major major factor missing among most candidate is the leadership ability.
I won't get into the entire born or bred debate, but for me, being a leader or taking a lead position starts from a very young age of being the one who always steps up to take responsibility. I've been president of my high school, my university department, assistant captain of my rugby team but besides those positions, when there was an issue I took responsibility to resolve it, whether it be a short term or long term position. On pitch, if there is a confrontation or soon to be one, I go in and throw the first punch or give them a headbutt in the maul to know not to screw around, if I'm working on a project whether it be when I was school or in business, and if people want to just laze around or are just causing issues, I just carry on either by just not bothering to consider their contribution and I really don't give a shit about the freerider issue, or to just to single them out and say, 'look, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, so either shut up and follow or just gtfo of the team'. Now I'm a physically imposing person as well, but I'm very generous and no one, absolutely no one will work harder on task than me. But the biggest thing is, you can't just wake up one day and say, 'hey, I learned some leadership skills and now I'm going to apply them' and that is clearly what happens to many of the applicants on the show. Its not that they are dumb or not capable, but leaders, definitively not.
I would suggest to watch every single one, just skip over the parts involving drama (I usually skip over at least 20% of every show) and what you have to watch fully is 'You're fired' which is a comic commentary after each show and they bring on the person who got fired. Now if you don't have a 'commonwealth/UK' sense of humour, it may be a bit understated for you, but for me, I almost look more forward to 'You're fired' than the actual show.
