Okies, so I decided I should quit smoking. I've only smoked for like 2.5 years or something, so Im not that old school, but I figured it's time to stop hurting my body.. at least with cancer sticks. My dad, and some friends have been complaining about it for a while aswell, and that makes me feel bad. And a friend of mine will give me approx. $500 if I dont smoke for the rest of the year. Just started studying again after a year doing nothing, so figured it's a good time to get back on track with my life and so on. Just had my last cig, so the struggle will begin tomorrow

Anyway, I just thought about writing about my experiences for a couple of days and see where it goes. I am 100% done with smoking from now on!

Prehaps i should start smoking untill they have offered me money to quit.

I've so far gotten 50$ with stopping to bait my nails.

Good luck with your challenge to better life. I hate it when someone smokes in the room. The stench is hateable and its distracting if their sigarrete has a long bit of ash at it.
Makes me go crazy thinking "Will it fall off, Or will he see it in time".
Also good luck with your studies :D. You will probably be worst off the first weeks without smoking..

You will get alot more than $500 by quitting, the cost of the things adds up to quite alot you'll see. I'd reccomend investing all of the money you would spend on smoking. This way not only are you doing your body good, but your future too.

you will feel 100x better after 1 week of no smoking
its shocking how much you lose your ability to smell and taste from smoking.

I think you won't have a hard time. Seems like you're very determined to stop and that's the most important part of it. Well, the 500$ aren't gonna hurt either I guess

Yeah, I took a look at how much money I've wasted and it's a huge amount. I'm not sure I really trust my friend to actually give me the money once the year is over, but at least it's something to dream about.

Read Allen Carrs book on his way to stop smoking, with your determination and his words there cant be failure. Really good book, just get your ass to read it!

Why would you take your friends money when he was looking out for you. I don't know just my opinion.

Good luck, I have no problem quitting for a few months, but for some reason after 3 or so months it becomes really difficult for me.

Thanks for the tip, I'm definetly going to look it up! And thanks for the encouragement, makes me even more determined!

Oh and the money part was mostly a joke to start with. Like I said, I dont really think he will give me any money, but if I actually stop smoking because of the "joke" I'd be more than happy to not get anything anyway.

What concern me the most is that you had some crazy friend, offering you $500~ 3500 SEK for quitting smoking. Either it's nothing for him/her or ur rly close friends and she/he wants you too quit badly. Are you sure whom in question is serious about it? Just make sure you get it in written that u will those 500$ for quiting smoking.
He/she gotta monitor you like a hawk 24/7.

We are very close friends indeed. We grew up together and have always looked out for each others. I guess my math was a bit off. He offered me 3000 SEK. BUt it's not the money part that drives me the most. I actually want to stop smoking because of the condition my body is in, the smell, the huuuge amount of money I throw away and I like a good challenge.

I dont want to smell like a cigarette anymore. I dont want to spend all that money on cigarettes anymore.

Seriously, good luck quitting the cancers sticks. Like you've said, your friends and family will thank you for it, and you'll feel much better

if you can get through the first 2 weeks of nicotine withdrawal and the next 2-3 of psychological dependency -which you should be able to easily since 2.5 years of smoking is nothing- you're home free. good luck!

The thing I heard that works is to replace smoking with a different activity. Like if you normally smoke at a certain time, then say "Whenever I want to smoke, I am going to do X instead" such as take a 5 min jog or chew gum.

tips:
don't just quit all of a sudden, make a plan when you're going to quit and prepare for it. i bet smoking is a pretty big part of your life, so quiting just like that will most likely be a pain in the ass and probably not work. plan 2 weeks ahead or something.
find a replacement: some people use gum, coffee(:D), apples, bananas, horse

these two helped me a lot.

Say you smoke 3 packs a week at 6euros per pack (approx?). That's 18€ a week, 936 € a year and times 2.5 years = 2340€. That's like a topnotch pc + sc2 or something. Dayum.

Nope. I just quit. I decided no more cigarettes and that was that.
It wasn't hard. Once you realize it tastes like ass.... it's easy to kick.
