Hey guys. I'm currently in Brisach and looking to head to Italy by train tomorrow.
My problem is, that I don't really have anything more than a general idea of what I want to do. Unfortunately the way my trip has panned out hasn't left me much time to plan. Currently thinking train down to venice, then florence then Rome and fly out from there.
I'm sure I can find a place to stay and figure out a half ways decent itinerary on my own, but I figure my time will be far more badass with liquidian help!
Can anybody help? Which places should I see? Would anybody like to help me continue my trend of meeting teamliquid folk? Are there any tips you could give me regarding places to stay or ways to get around?
Virtually anything you might be able to tell me would be a great help at this point.

I did a month there recently, this writeup is just my opinion:
Rome is legit. If I could do it again I'd spend at least a week there. Venice is overrated and smells like fish. Tuscanny is pretty cool, especially after doing time in the big cities. Staying at a nice place in the country side and drinking wine all day is a great way to relax after battling Roman drivers.
I'd recommend against the overly touristy places like Pisa (and for the same reasons, Venice). The food and accommodations will be over priced and low quality. A general tip for places like Rome would be to find a sign pointing to a landmark (like the Colosseum), and walk the opposite direction. Find a restaurant that looks like it's populated by locals and usually that's where you'll find the best food.
The worst meal I had was right outside St Mark's in Venice. It was an "itailian" restaurant run by an asian family. The noodles were terrible, the pizza looked like it had been frozen at some point in it's life, and it was about double the price of what you'd expect.
I know I say don't do the overly touristy places, but you have to do Rome. It's just amazing.

I will go to Italy the next week, to Florencie/Pisa, Rome and Naples. I will visit Monaco too.
Wanted to know if that is cold there, snow or not.

Personally, I liked Venice. It was calm and relaxing, but it has a much different feel than Florence.
Idk, maybe I went on a good day or I eat too much fish or something, but I didn't smell anything bad about it.
Florence was CONFUSING for me. >_< like, even with maps, my parents and I would get lost, lol. But the bridges, the sculptures, and the buildings there are amazing. It's worth a visit just to SEE the effects of the Renaissance. 
I've never been to Rome though, and yeah... Pisa was okay, but not amazing. =/ Idk, I just didn't like Italy very much compared to Austria though, hahaha. Maybe I should've looked around for local shops more. :p

Venice is great, especially in winter, just be ready for flooding (which is sweet). I agree that the touristy stuff should be avoided to some degree, but Venice is a pretty incredible place.
Florence and Rome are great as well. Enjoy your visit.
EDIT: The famed Venice smell is a summer phenomenon iirc.

Not intending to go to Pisa, as i'm relatively short on time and money and it seems like the only thing there is the tower.
Currently thinking that i'll head off early tomorrow morning. Catch the 8am train to Zurich, spend a few hours or so there, then jump back on the train to Milan, staying the night there. Beyond that, it's still a bit up in the air.

Great idea spending some time in Zürich, it's a beautiful city. The station is in walking distance from the centre. You could walk upriver the Limat a bit than take the Polybahn ( a small rack railway+ Show Spoiler +)that brings you up on the hill a bit to the tech uni there from where you have a really nice view of the old town, the alps and the lake).

Had my bag stolen in Zurich.
At a bit of a loss here in Milan. Hope things pick up in Venice.
