If the latter is true, then 64b W7 wont run. Good parts of installing 64b W7 is RAM usage, while 32b system can use only 4G (actually 3.25G with windows), with 64b you can use almost as much as you want. So, if you have less than 4G RAM, its not worthy to install 64b system just for the sake of 64b, stick with 32b. But if you have free win7 64b and you laptop is able to run it, go for it, better than Vista. | ||

If the laptop has 32-bit hardware inside, then you won't even be able to install the 64-bit Windows 7 on it. I have 4 GB of RAM on my laptop but because I downgraded from Vista 32-bit to XP 32-bit, it only reads 3 GB now  | ||

Like kOre mention 32 bit will not use or see anything past 3GB of RAM. 64-Bit will see anything past 3GB of RAM (advantage of the 64-bit system) | ||

So if you have like 0,75 GB of v.mem. then system will see up to 3,25 GB RAM and when you have 1 GB of v.mem. system will see only 3 GB. That's why some people will see other amounts of RAM available. BTW Tnx Descent for that info, didn't know that depending on version W7 has diffirent "caps" for memory | ||
