Everything on ultra and textures look bad

Hello, i've had this issue only recently, i can't get the game to look high quality even with the settings at max.

My video card is a ati radeon 7850. Any ideas why this might be happening?

I'm not sure what you mean. It looks just like my own graphics before my card started acting up. I think its supposed to look like that.

That IS high quality. Starcraft is a competitive game, its not meant to look good.

This forum is getting filled with terrible advice.

I run high textures, low everything else and compared my in game to that screen shot and it's absolutely night and day.

Do you have the settings in catalyst control center (sorry you have to use it) to fast, or high quality? That looks to me like you've got it setup to render things quickly.

Edit: You also have to do a restart for texture setting changes to take effect, have you done a game restart since you changed the settings?

Textures are definitely low resolution on the screenshot, as suggested above your drivers settings might interfere with the game. And sc2 actually looks good on ultra >.<

Locate your variables.txt and perhaps rename it to something else, start up the game and reset your graphic settings. See if that does anything different?

Also do you have ATI Tray Tools? If so, check if your LOD Bias is past 1+, if it is, set it to 0 (Center).

Try and move variables.exe to another folder or maybe your whole profile folder inside My documents.

what resolution are you playing at? 1920x1080? what is your monitor's max resolution?

Judging from your latest post one would assume you’ve upgraded to a new GPU and not only that you’ve switched manufactures (Nvidia – ATI). So I would recommend the following steps.

• With the 460GTX installed in the pc, uninstalling the Nvidia drivers.
• Reboot in safe mode and run DriverSweeper and remove both Nvidia and ATI drivers/directory’s if they still exist.
• Then remove the 460GTX and install the 7850 with the latest drivers from ATI.

If you want awesome as fuck graphics, slide everything to the right.

This is just to illustrate what you're looking for, not the settings you're supposed to use.

i banged my head with this one, the FAULT was coming from the overclock of the graphics card. I turned overdrive off and everything came back to normal after a game restart
