Altitude's ISL Fantasy League

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, would you like to have your shot at proving you can be the best Starcraft manager out there? Starcraft managers behind the scenes of clan wars have as a main role to identify players who will win in specific match ups on certain maps. Here is your chance to test your Brood War knowledge in Altitude's ISL Fantasy Pool!

The players participating in the pool have been divided into 9 separate groups, these groups are formed based on relative skill to other players. As such, each fan wishing to submit a team to the fantasy pool need merely select one player from each ensemble and submit it to altitudeislfantasypool@gmail.com. Once you have done this, all you need to do is sit back and relax! Maybe pull out some popcorn and watch the ISL every time it goes live as the progress of your team is monitored automatically by league officials!

Modifications based on sign up quantity
1 - After clearing the group stage, you may not be eliminated till the round of 8.
2 - The cummulative score of your head-to-head matches from the round of 32 to the round of 8 will determine your advancement to the semi-final.

While you're picking your team, you will want to keep in mind that when your player loses and is eliminated from the tournament, he will no longer be gaining points for you, thus, you don't only want to look at players who will make it through the group stages, you'll be wanting to predict the flow of play up to the very end.

Now, there are a few tricky things which you're going to want to consider while creating your team, the Fantasy Pool is going to be head to head following the format of the ISL itself. What does this mean? It basically means that the brackets will be a mirror of the ISL brackets, you will go through the group stage and the single elimination stages as if your fantasy team were an actual player. So, essentially, if you lose out your first two matches of the group, you are eliminated from the Fantasy Pool.

The groups will operate as such:

Team 1 <> Team 2
Team 3 <> Team 4
Winner 1 <> Winner 2
Loser 1 <> Loser 2
Loser 3 <> Winner 4

Loser of matches 4 and 5 are eliminated from the fantasy pool
Winners of matches 3 and 5 move onto the Round of 32

All of the matches in the fantasy pool will include the corresponding set from the tournament bracket along with all other sets of the same map. For the remainder of the ISL (single elimination bracket), the fantasy pool will count all matches of a corresponding round.

Concerning the invites to the ISL itself, they are very risky picks given the format and they do not play in the group stages of the tournament. These players are Sziky, Ace, Pro7ecT and Michael. Pick these players with caution or you may find yourself out of the pool pretty quickly! While you're thinking about said invites, be sure to check out their 1on1 interviews with Pholon about ISL3, their preparation, anticipation, and observation of the Starleague thus far. Now that you're all experts on the format, please take a look at the groups below:

[spoiler=Tie Breakers]
Being as it's head to head, there is always the chance of a tie, therefore the following system determines who moves on:

1) Wins
2) Set Win:Loss Ratio
3) Total Tournament Wins
4) Total Tournament Set Win:Loss Ratio

In order to make the most educated decisions concerning your picks, it is suggested that you first take a look at the ISL Group Stage and how the match ups will progress. All this information and more which you can find here: Group Stage

Good Luck, pick wisely and have fun!

I highly encourage anyone who has been paying attention and or keeping track of Altitude's ISL thus far and plans to, as well as interact with the tournament and community in an attempt to see who can manage their way into a BW fantasy league win, to participate in this league.

Huh.. Elena was meant to be in Group 8, that'd be my mistake. It's edited.

While I think this is a great way to get more people involved, it might be better to only start the fantasy league once the tour is past the groupstage. Because by setting up a team right now, it is very much luckbased if you manage to get past the groups. For predictions alot will depend on the brackets, and those are impossible to predict ftm.

when are the points added up? for example: if I don't pick anyone from groups5-8, will I automatically lose that week? Also, do we keep players going into ro32, or do we repick them?

Hm this is basically why I only picked group players as well since they have a chance to get 2 wins, whereas the invites have to wait until next week

You're the reason I picked a lot of players not based on group seeding, as well as invites, because I'm playing known strengths over current tact.

when are the points added up?

At the end of each Round

Also, do we keep players going into ro32, or do we repick them?

You keep them throughout (if they're eliminated, you don't get to replace them).

I'd like to see how a gamer who plays almost every player in the pool regularly due to mass gaming picks them. Must wanna go heads up?
