GSTL May Ro 8 Day 1 MVP Interviews
[image loading]

Alright, I am back with the interview translations for the GSTL.

From PlayXP

SlayerS vs. ZeNEX
+ Show Spoiler +

SlayerS_Taeja – ‘The secret to confidence is continuous practice.’
[image loading]
- Your thoughts on achieving an all-kill?
I am extremely happy. I want to quickly get the word out to my family.

- Your opponent was from your former team. (**Taeja was on ZeNEX)

It was comfortable for me. Even if it wasn’t me, his (zerO’s) style is well known so it was easy to face.

- How many kills did you predict?

I thought that if I beat zerO, I would get the all-kill.

- Your reason for such confidence?

Continuous practice and laddering. Through that I can see the rankings.

- Did you talk with the ZeNEX members before the game?

We told each other let’s play our best.

- Which game was the most difficult?
The 1st set, my record against protoss in practice was not so good.

- Your style was really aggressive.
When I saw Puzzle’s match history, he favored using void ray or 3 gate openings so I prepared for that. I really focused on preparing for the 1st set. In the 2nd set, after my scan I saw that he had a lot of zerglings so I built more bunkers just in case.

- When can we expect your debut in the individual leagues?

People who have made their splash in the GSTL seem to make it through to the preliminaries in the next season. I will try my best to get good results.

- What has been good about your team switch?

The team atmosphere is really good. When you are there, you can’t help but practice harder.

- Are you greedy for more games (in the next round)?

If I am sent out, I will play but for now, I will step aside for the other players.

- Any last comments?

I want to thank all the SlayerS teammates who helped me practice. One of my friends who is a senior in high school probably watched my game today, but in the future, I hope he can focus on his studies (**for most Korean students this is a stressful time with very little free time). I want to thank my aunt who drives me to every match, and I want to sent my love to my parents.

fOu vs. TSL
+ Show Spoiler +

sCfOu and GuMihofOu - 'We will definitely win.'
- Your thoughts on scoring a 3-kill?
(GuMiho) – It hasn’t really dawned on me yet. I hope to take this tournament’s opportunities to get rid of my nerves in broadcasted matches.

- How many kills did you predict?
(GuMiho) – If Lucky were to lose in the 1st set (**which he did), my thought was to win my match in the 2nd set no matter what. I didn’t really prepare for the matches after that so I wasn’t too confident. But my nerves really went away after winning my first game. I used builds that I usually use in practice and luckily, I was able to pull out some wins.

- You almost had an all-kill.
(GuMiho) – It is a bit disappointing, but I am still lacking in my decision making. It will be ok since I feel like I can perform even better in the round of 4.

- Did you know that you would be chosen as the last player?

(sC) – Before I came here today, I thought that Lucky would get at least 1 kill so I was pretty comfortable. I didn’t think I would get my turn. The score went to 3:3 so we were able to win today.

- You showed some bold hellion play today.

(sC) – It was mostly improvisation, so the build was a bit staggered. However, the timing turned out to be good, and luckily, I was able to win.

- What if you weren’t sent out as the last player?
(sC) – To be honest, I didn’t think it would get to my turn. But during the match aLive played tremendously, so I was preparing myself for him.

- You must have been carrying a large burden (pressure) for that last match.

(sC) – They call me the team’s ace. But in the past GSTL’s I don’t think I have been playing like an ace. So the pressure was really on me today. I am glad I was able to win.

- Did your past of being a random player have any effect on your games today?

(GuMiho) – There wasn’t anything specific, but because of my past, I always loved making up new strategies. So you can say that the strategies I showed today are upgraded versions of the strategies that I used to use.

- You got quite a lot of hellions.

(GuMiho) – That just happened to be the theme for today’s matches. I have plenty more strategies in store.

- Your next opponent is SlayerS.

(GuMiho) – I think we will win. I hope they send out some zerg users. I feel confident because we have sC.
(sC) – I think the first match will be important. If we can take the 1st match, we can probably win pretty easily. But if we lose the first match, it will be a difficult series like today.

- Any last comments?

(GuMiho) – Recently our team atmosphere is really good. I hope we can ride that out and win the GSTL. I want to thank all of my teammates who helped me practice. I want to especially thank ArtistfOu.
(sC) – In the past GSTL’s both times we were knocked out in the round of 8. I hope everyone will be watching, since we will make sure to win this time. In the last set, our playing coach Choya wanted to play, but I want to thank him for stepping aside for me. (**This is probably him just teasing Choya)
+ Show Spoiler +

Nice interview, I still hope that Slayers will win against fOu but it's nice that they finally pull off a win!
I hope Taeja will qualify, it could be interesting to see him in code A.

SlayerS_Taeja – ‘The secret to confidence is continuous practice.’

BW mindset , 100% certain that he uses The Emporers training methods with Cella's coaching, surely that is one of the strengths of this team.

If only there was a regular GTSL, fairly certain Slayers would be owning there.

Gumiho is a baller username btw, good thing he lives up to it.

OMG, an almost unknown SlayerS player strikes again. I knew Zenex wouldn't beat them, but not that heavily... Gotta see theses matches.

Congrats to Taeja and props to him for still playing since Season 1, I only really remember him as:

- the guy who beat the girl Protoss player that Artosis was filming during the open qualifiers of Season 2 or 3 (I think it was 3)
- the guy who missed out on Code A because Monster lost the hilariously long ling/bling ZvZ to Golden on Scrap in the Tiebreakers.

Interesting Choya wanted to go out instead of sC. I don't think they would have won if he did .

Love Taeja, shows that practice really does pay off. If they start training like they did in BW again....
