UPDATE - Feb. 3, 2012: WE'RE COMING BACK! This group channel was extremely useful for a lot of people for a while but it fizzled out over the holidays with a lot of players busy. It's a new year and time to revamp the "Game Time" channel back to previous levels of grandeur! Starting the afternoon of February 3rd, I'll be idling in the channel again and setting up practice games once more. If you are Diamond/Master level player on the NA server and want a group to get practice games, join the channel and stick around (If you are one of the first back, numbers might be slim until this thread gets views again). I expect numbers to shoot back up once everyone realizes that it is going active once more. Tell your friends and get this resource rolling again! Previously we had up to 60 concurrent players in the channel and practice games were easy to come by. My Battle.net ID is at the bottom of the post so feel free to send me a tell if you have questions or if you just want to chat about this badass game.
Post your Battle.net ID and Character Code if you're interested and join on up!
Note: I'm aware of the Practice Partner thread, however, I am looking to create a group that is consistently active and has the same goals in mind when approaching practice. Many of the players I have contacted in the Practice Partner thread have played one game and then called it quits. I am also aware of other posts similar to this but I have repeatedly tried to contact people in the other groups without success. Therefore, my intention in forming this group is to get people who are having the same issues and want other active and driven players to improve with.
To begin, I am a Diamond level Zerg player who is looking to get in plenty of practice playing outside of ladder matches. The ultimate goal of mine is to make the jump into Masters. The problem for me, and undoubtedly many others, is that trying out new things on ladder can be frustrating. It's one thing to follow BOs that progamers have developed and blindly play the game without completely understanding what you are doing. It's a totally different story when you are able to see the consequences of your choices pan out later on down the road. Personally, I find the latter of these two approaches more appealing because it trains your ability to adapt. In custom games, I feel that the pressure to follow only standard BOs is somewhat relieved and you can make tweaks to current strategies or attempt something completely new.
Details for anyone interested:
1. Be ready to have fun. This is a game after all and although analysis and discussion is aimed at becoming better as a player, I feel it is most important to enjoy the community and game.
2. Please be diamond level or above...I understand that this isn't necessarily a reflection of your true skill but it's one of the only benchmarks in the game that has any merit.
3. Be online fairly consistently. This doesn't mean be online at all hours of the day, every day, no exception. Simply be around and be active. I hope this can be a fun way to progress in the game without the constant stress of only laddering.
4. Be mannered...this should be a given but I feel I should explicitly state it. Nothing irritates me more than senseless BM.
5. Lastly, this is a group intended for practice so be ready to analyze and critique...with solid feedback and consistent participation I have no doubt that those who are willing can achieve their goals.
If you are somehow still interested:
You can post in this thread with your battle.net ID and Character Code or try to get a hold of me in game. Previously there have been a billion messages flying my way when this thread has been active so just join the channel in game if I can't get back to you right away.
My ID/Character Code: Grohg.542
HOPE TO SEE YOU IN GAME!

if you're looking for a practice group, maybe you should join a clan?

Hey, also a diamond zerg player looking to get into masters looking for an outlet to practice starcraft outside of ladder with some like minded people... and also a recent college graduate looking for a job with a lot of time to burn. Seems like we have a lot in common.
Add me, Eriatarka.227. I'm on sporadically throughout the day to burn my ladder bonus pool.

Go ahead and Add me Master's Protoss. I really don't get to play much can't play tell after 6pm PST weekdays and on when I can on weekends. Frustrated with laddering atm so would be great to play with some practice partners. Not super active. Maybe 1-2 hours a day but I will spend them practicing with you guys since it sounds like more fun.
Edit: Name is Toasty.795

IJVMS.731
We should make a channel.
|
I'm a Master level Terran and Protoss. Add me Nemasyst 598 Right now I can't get on, but I'm usually on for atleast a little while each day if I can. Btw, I think you should make a chat channel for the small group of people to hang around in.

High diamond here, Zerg also looking to get into masters Samp.619
|
Yup I'm down. I play in the evenings PST most days of the week.

Heyhey mid-diamond zerg, I'm on most nights and having a group to be part of will probably make me play more (I'm pretty inconsistent about laddering :/)

Would love to do this. On quite a bit, 3-4 hours a day usually. Protoss player in Diamond. Hopefully this won't matter but I'm young, like under 15 young(not by too much, I'm not 10 lol). I'm only mentioning it because some practice groups exclude young people . nTvarify.871

In the future maybe, this is something I'm looking at but for now a like-minded group would suffice.

High diamond Protoss. jacobmarlow.845 I would love to play PvZs all day long.
|
Btw i play mostly at night since i work during the day. But I play every day.
|
I'm game, kamui.512; low masters toss... You might think of making a channel if you get too many people so that people can just log in and find a practice buddy or something
|
im diamond on my team leagues but i am only gold on my 1s because of lack of ladder play, i think of myself as a respectable diamond, but is that good enough for you?

Add me up. Masters zerg. Legendary.664
I tried doing something similar but it was a group of people with all skill levels. Well it didn't quite work out because of the skill differences and lack of activity of lower league players. Anyways, I could probably provide the vent server if you get a good group of people. I already have one just not sure how many slots it supports.

Ok so, due to extremely quick responses (I love TL), I have made a temporary channel to join while we sort this out. Join "Game Time" if you want more info...I'll try to get a hold of anyone who posted on the thread asap. If you are online before I get around to contacting you, pm me and we can get this bus rolling.

Seems like a good idea.
