I was thinking to myself, we just don't see stuff like this enough.
If a zerg causes the protoss to make cannon, should the zerg try to expand more? or try to contain?
The containment option just seems not worth it enough... why? because zerg can't mine resources from long distance.
What if there was a change in the function of drone mining so that it didn't have to return minerals, but it took longer for them to extract them and then a +8 minerals text would pop up once the minerals were gotten.
I know this is similar to warcraft 3 but, what if it was maybe just for gas and not minerals? So depending on how many hatcheries zerg has would dictate how many additional extractors zerg could make around the map.
This would be interesting since zerg now try to keep their hatcheries to a minimum only 2-3 in sc2.
Plus, if this was just a function of gas, this would't help zerg take the map any faster especially considering a containment proxy hatch was made...
So zerg would have a 3rd hatch in front of their opponent's base, and then you would only be able to mine from the gas extractor that is closest to that proxied hatchery where ever it is.
You build an extractor and have 3 drones mining inside of it not having to return minerals.
I just think it would be pretty cool and interesting.
