The fifth player to join the stars at DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship: Stockholm Invitational is one of the few players in the pro scene who play random. Yes of course we are talking about TheLittleOne from Teamliquid. TLO is one of Europe’s most popular StarCraft-player since the early days of the beta. With his Korean experience, unique style and often unorthodox strategies he always entertain and is a big threat for his opponents.

With only one Zerg in the lineup we thought it was time to put another one to the mix. We welcome Mousesports MorroW to Stockholm Invitational. MorroW got his big e-sport breakthrough when he as a stand in at IEM Global Challenge Cologne went thru the tournament as a bulldozer ending up winning it all. MorroW is also known for his deep knowledge of the game mechanics and balance and often makes his voice heard in the community.

As the 7th player in the tournament we welcome the Beast from the East! Duckload-Ra, better known as White-Ra. Aleksey Krupnyk is an old school Brood War player and a true mega star in Europe and the Russian speaking countries.

Update 3 - HuK & IdrA are ready to fight!
+ Show Spoiler +

HuK & IdrA are ready to fight!

Yesterday we presented the first two players for DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship Stockholm Invitational and today it´s time for two other great players, both from North America. Welcome to DreamHack and Sweden IdrA and HuK.

The third player to join Jinro and MC to fight in DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship Stockholm Invitational is no stranger to high level games, both in Korea and the western world. Stockholm Invitational’s first Zerg player is Greg “IdrA” Fields from Evil Geniuses. IdrA is known from the Brood War era in Korea with teams like CJ Entus and recently as a Code S player in GSL playing StarCraft II. With his amazing macro abilities IdrA can beat any player who comes in his way.

The fourth player is one of the new GSL Code S players for the upcoming season and has one of the strongest fan bases among North Americans players who often call him The Incredible HuK. Chris “HuK” Loranger plays Protoss and is contracted by the mighty Team Liquid. HuK always draw a big crowd and will certainly put on a great show in Stockholm.

Update 2 - Jinro & MC first two players to Stockholm Invitational 2011
+ Show Spoiler +

Jinro & MC to Stockholm

DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship Stockholm Invitational 2011 will be one of the absolute highlights in esports this spring. Today we are very excited and proud to present the first two fantastic players who will compete for the the grand prize of 100 000 SEK and the first DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship title on LAN this year.

DreamHack, Sapphire AMD, SteelSeries and EIZO are proud to invite the double and reigning champion of GSL, Jang “MC” Min Chul from Team oGs. MC is definitely one of the world’s strongest Protoss players and with his recent shape and innovating playing style he is one of the favorites to go to the final at Stockholm Invitational. His attitude and confidence will definitely be shown in Stockholm and MC will be the one to beat for all the participating players.

The second player is one of the very best foreigners and has in very short time won the hearts of many StarCraft-fans worldwide. With great performance in GSL season 3 in January the “Gorilla Terran” is a force to be reckoned with. We welcome the Swedish player Jonathan “Jinro” Walsh from Team Liquid to Stockholm Invitational and also home to Sweden where the tournament will be his first “major” competition on home territory since the release of StarCraft II. We are convinced that Jinro will go “all in” to please the fans at Kulturhuset.

Eight world class StarCraft II-players to attend Stockholm Invitational the 12th of April 2011. DreamHack hosts a one-day tournament at Kulturhuset in central Stockholm in front of live audience, with professional commentators and broadcasted online.

DreamHack and our partners SteelSeries, Eizo, Sapphire and AMD is proud to present the first offline event in the tournament season of DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship that culminates with a Grand Final at DreamHack Winter 2011 24-27 November in Jönköping, Sweden with 400 000 SEK in prize purse.

Eight of the world’s best players will play a single elimination tournament, with first match 15.00 and Grand final 21.00. Winner of the tournament will get 100 000 SEK and top-2 will get wildcards to DreamHack Summer 2011.
- Spectating e-Sports and especially StarCraft II is like watching any other sports. It’s fun, intense and entertainment from the first second to final clashes between huge armies. You can’t host a eSports event in any better location then Kulturhuset and we’re very excited about taking e-Sports to the heart of Swedish culture, said Fredrik Nyström, Press officer at DreamHack.

Player booths
Audience experience will be similar to Europe’s biggest and most famous eSports stage, DreamArena Extreme, built and produced at every DreamHack main event in Jönköping. Organizers have also invested in building professional StarCraft-booths in order to give attending players the best possible tournament experience.
- South Korea is the leading e-Sports nation in the world – and inspired by their development and community – we’re now taking e-Sports and StarCraft II to the next level in Sweden, said Fredrik Nyström.

News like this make me extremely happy.

Esports is finally kicking it into gear in 2011. Huge props to the organizers, sponsors, eventual players and casters.

It's gonna be awesome.
