Nice article, although I like the INnoVation vs Life more, because it has more games and lasted much longer...

There is also Taeja vs Life even if they've never been at their top at the same time, sadly (except maybe on blizzcon 2014)

We'd need another epic clash in SSL, GSL or Proleague finals to have this Dream vs Life getting more interesting imho...

those are good. Another fun opponent for Life and for a while maybe the best rivalry for him was with Leenock imo. I know lots of people like to complain about ZvZ sucking but they played some great series vs each other although not that recently.

But Dream was already someone with a lot of potential back in mvp right? I mean every time he was fielded commentators would say all the time that he had the brightest of futures ahead of him. It's no surprise then that he's performing very well lately, since the potential was there and those who knew the Korean scene had their eyes on him for a long time...

Not really. Even in 2015 when Dream was the runner up of SSL and one of the top terran players, other players and the majority of the sc2 scene was dismissive of him. Treating him as a flash in the pan, a bubble just about to burst.

Sigh Life needs to find a way again. Dreams are unsubstantial and will disappear soon enough...

Loved the article. Should have titled it "Living the Life vs Living the Dream." Would have been epic!

Well stuchiu did say he wanted to focus on the rivalry that developed the most recently. And this is the one. Two friends, one being Life who always finds a way, the other a man who follows his Dreams. One ended up on KT Rolster, the other on SK Telecom T1. Both the very best at the matchup of TvZ/ZvT. Two of the youngest players to ever make GSL. 2 of their 3 series produced at least one game of the "Epic" category.

It's a pretty great rivalry.

Yeah I understood that, as I understoodthat 3 monthes is the equivalent of History in esport. It was not an attack, just personnal expression.

You need to chill out.

maru vs life had the prerequisites to turn into an awesome rivalry. as much as this is the better rivalry though, life is the overall better player. dream doesnt have the same results against maru and didnt win a single match in the current gsl.

i honestly feel the style dream plays with that was mentioned in this article is what beats life. like innovations dominant run with hellbats. eventually life will adapt.

Life and Dream have a rivalry? News to me lol. Dream miles away from Life in terms of what he has achieved in this game and they have played eachother twice in series past bo1 and its pretty close if you ask me? Dream 3-2 and Dream 4-3, Life's rivals on Aligulac are Taeja Leenock Innovation PartinG Symbol xD
Guessing that sample size might be as small as this one though

Their latest and greatest encounter was in g5 of the S2SL quarter-finals.

They did met in the ace match between KT and SKT just a week ago.

Great article!

Fantastic article. I really need to follow the scene more since before reading this article and watching those games if you had given me a multiple choice question asking who Life's greatest rival was and had Dream, Leenock, MVP, and Parting I almost certainly would have gotten it wrong (I would have picked parting, but in any case Dream would have been my last choice there). You're right tho, those games demonstrate something truly spectacular.

Can't wait to see more of these, especially some that include foreigners. Plus I feel like Stephano has long been due a pretty massive article, I doubt we'll ever see another foreigner of his calibre, and the way it always came out vs Polt was great. (On that note, Scarlett and Bomber too). MMA and DEG might be the greatest rivalry of all time (in my opinion), but there's a lot of good ones too. Hell, there's honestly something to be said for Idra vs Protoss. I don't mean that as a joke, the dude had some serious issues with the protoss race, and it came out in his matches vs HuK, MC and Naniwa.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

But seriously do Maru vs PartinG pls

Isn't it too one sided? I think there's a better chance for something like Polt vs Stephano.

My SC2 god is sOs, but now I found a second one. It is you stuchiu, because all your recent articles are absolutely amazing! Your analysis of the best players of SC2 is great and shows an incredible amount of work and this article is awesome as well! Congratulations!
