Honestly the first session is going to be annoying to DM given my desktop and monitor haven't come in the mail yet so I'm going to be working with my super-small laptop screen which means a lot of alt-tabbing to reference anything.

Basically the group I'm running this with is, for the most part, a gaming group that I played with in high school. We tried various attempts at long-distance games through the last few years in various mediums (forum RP, IRC, etc.) and they always seemed to fall through, either because the medium sucked for it, or because one or more players didn't have the time to commit. So this particular campaign actually started as a joke, given our last attempt that happened a few months ago that stopped because one of the players moved to China without saying anything to anyone until like a week beforehand. We decided that we'd try to take a poor pre-written adventure, and some dysfunctional characters, and try to make the entire experience work. If it does, we'd actually have a campaign, and if not, we'd probably still get a few laughs out of not taking it too seriously to begin with. The ruleset is stock D&D 3.5, with sources allowed being open-ended (I'm dealing with most obvious munchkinry on a case-by-case basis). The setting is FR, but given the actual campaign, it's not going to matter much. The poor pre-written adventure is "The World's Largest Dungeon", which, for those who don't know, is a giant 1-20 dungeon that's poorly written, and even more poorly edited. As in, the company went bankrupt a few months after the book was published and never released proper errata, which means you have ridiculous things like the intro saying "you should ban all players from using the Web spell and none of the enemies should have it because it's a broken spell in the dungeon's small corridors", then proceeding to write Web into the stat-blocks of almost every arcane spellcaster in the book I could find. The dungeon is divided into sections that have self-contained plots and level ranges, but there are two main problems. 1) the plots aren't really directly introduced to the players except in a few particular sessions, so it's possible for players to basically kill their way through sections completely avoiding the plot with just the overarching goal of "get out of this fucking dungeon" and 2) the XP rewards for each section really aren't consistent with keeping players in those level ranges (the intro basically says "you should give players diminishing XP returns for killing the same monsters because we wrote way too much XP worth of monsters into each section"), so without some houseruling/curating XP gains, the dungeon gets really poorly scaled. As far as our dysfunctional party goes, we have: Sangar, a Paladin of Kelemvor (with all the roleplaying nightmares that a Paladin entails that we discussed earlier) Mendelssohn, an Archivist of Kelemvor (Mendelssohn as a character is kind of a weird in-joke as the character's been recycled as a clerical NPC across several of our failed games, so we figured he deserved his own adventure by this point) Vorist, a Wizard specializing in Conjuration (whose inspiration apparently comes from some Harry Potter fanfiction because why the fuck not) Justian, a Factotum (probably the most normal of the bunch, though the player assured me he's rerolling a Truenamer if he dies) I have no clue whether this game will last, especially given my own schedule getting busier, but we'll see.

It's primarily a skill-using class with an emphasis on being a jack-of-all-trades, though it does gain minor spellcasting and the ability to mimic certain class features as it progresses. It differs from a conventional rogue in that the rogue is often much more dexterity-focused while the factotum is almost exclusively an intelligence-driven class.

Since legendaries are generally considered somewhat more efficient for their cost, at some point when we reach enough cards(to have 20+ cohesive legendaries) in hearthstone will decks evolve into almost all legendaries/epics? or does magic not really have anything that you could take as an example of this? Oh you mean Legendaries in HS. Ok. Well the main thing that pops out to me is that it depends on how Blizzard chooses to design future Legendaries and Epics in Hearthstone. Even if we say that all Epic and Legendary cards are strictly better than their equivalent counterparts, there are still a lot of other considerations to take into account such as mana curve, tempo, synergy, etc. For example, let's say all future Legendary cards are 5+ mana minimum. Sure the cards might be busted but you're still not going to cram a deck full of them because you're still not doing things in turns 1-5. Also as Cixah said, another obvious thing to do is have certain sets of cards rotate out of the usable pool of cards the way MtG does too. On August 26 2014 04:39 mr_tolkien wrote: Why ? It's pretty fun. Not if you play Tron though. Hush. I love playing Sundering Titan and giggling as I 3x Stone Rain someone. Also did you see that GP Yokohama deck that played Urborg with Sundering Titan for extra greed? On August 26 2014 08:49 Alaric wrote: Are these actual lyrics or something else? Can't quite make everything out. Fukkireta is an actual song sung by a Vocaloid clone. The one Scip linked is just a MAD someone on NicoNico probably made where clips from a moe-blob show are spliced with Nintendo songs.
