A lot of koreans speak english pretty well, they're just too shy/humble to put that skill to use during interviews. In my experience Korean English has been second only to the Philippines as far as Asian countries go, which isn't really a fair comparison at all considering. But Korean> China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia ETC in terms of English. Not if you include South Asia and maybe even West Asia. India has its own little asterisk what with English colonialism. I suppose I would say countries that you might call typically Asian, that happen to be in Asia rather than include all the technically Asian countries that no one would call expressly Asian off the cuff. Colloquially Asian if you will

Colloquially Asian if you will Yeah, I moved to the US more than a decade ago and the term Asian still confuses me sometimes. Most of the time it just refers to East Asians but sometimes Southeast Asians are included as well. Indians are not normally included and just called Indians. It gets weird when Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc gets involved. Oh, don't forget Singapore. I'd put them above Koreans as well. Malaysia should theoretically be better as well but dunno if it is in practice. Knowing the culture, though, I'd say Koreans are worried about their accent. But from my business studies, many recommend to use a translator anyway because you might screw up the language.
