Favoritism = "I want these players to win because I'm really attached to them due to following them for so long!"
Elitism = "I want these players to win because they're superior players. They are more talented and/or practice harder."
Don't pretend that certain BW fans haven't been saying things very similar to the latter.
Fandoms are all equally "legitimate" (whatever that's supposed to mean). However, every fandom has its annoying minority that sullies that fandom's reputation, and for the BW community, that minority are BW elitists. It would have helped the claim that it's favoritism rather than elitism if it the SC2 community didn't have to watch the whole stupid "Wow Kespa is just too far ahead of everyone else now" discussion whenever Kespa players performed well against non-Kespa. Fortunately, that's died down a ton since Bomber and Maru's WCS wins.
