The first game Huk player really well, he barely messed up in the next. It looks to me like Huk just didn't expect so many 4 gates .

I think its a jet leg + stress of next Code S game. Or did Koreans stop being cheesy and Huk lost all his abilities against the 4 gate.

So you are saying that Huk neither has Code S obligations, nor has jetlag. Because I think he would probably take Code S more seriously AND did fly halfway across the world, so both actually do play a role. Its not Elfi is bad, but Huk is good enough that he should have given more of a fight

He's good at 4gating.

4gating is synonymous with pvp

Not true at all, Elfi's play isn't standard modern PvP.

Well, Elfi didn't get his 69-25 PvP record with 4gating only, he's capable of doing other builds well, but given the fact that it worked so many times in a row, I can't blame him for 4gating. Whatever works.

When one of the most successful Protoss of all time, who was one of TWO toss to stay in Code S after last season loses to a good but much less accomplished player people like to ask what's up. Is the other player Code S level or was something detracting from Huk's play.

Honestly, why do you have to make such a snotty comment without even thinking. People didn't expect Huk to win because they like him, they did because he is the most decorated Protoss other than MC.

Or maybe HuK was outplayed while he was jet-lagged and stressed out. We'll never know if the traveling itself was the tipping point or if Huk could have powered through it.

Because HuK is the best foreigner and there is no reason that he should lose to Elfi.

And there's no reason a 2x GSL champion and best protoss with a 75 percent pvp winrate should lose to Huk. That's PvP for you. Actually I take it back there is a reason Huk should lose to Elfi...he has better pvp. Just look at the stats.

There are an incredible amount of reasons why the better player would lose. I wish I had tyler's post to quote about how tournaments do not show who the best player is and aren't designed to.

It's just funny how, when a relatively unknown player gets a big win, you fanboys hurry to forums to discredit his win in a bo5. HuK was playing bad that day, it was raining, you know korea, and ALSO THE JETLAG! Honestly why so butthurt.

Elfi played well, but to say that Huk in top form would make mistakes like missing a pylon is silly. I like Huk, I also really like Elfi. That doesn't change the fact that Huk is the better playing, which makes this an upset. I like thinking about why it was an upset. Huk's mental state was part of it, I also think the style of PvP Elfi played threw him off. PvP in korea seems to be moving away from 4 gating into greedy expands, I think going back to the hyper early game aggression may have been jarring.

But yeah, every comment you disagree with is from a fanboy while you're in no way being nationalistic.

Well its Huk's responsibility to get into that "top form". He knew about this tourney weeks in advance, there was no code s this week or the week before. It's just that every time somebody upsets the fan favorites, lr threads turn into this lets make up excuses, so we can discredit the player that just won. After reading these threads you could think the winning player is just garbage. And yeah, out of the two players HuK has definitely the player that has shown better results and I would say is overall better across all the matchups, but I think it is bm to discredit Elfi right after his win like it didnt mean anything. And you finding excuses for HuK for why he lost is in no way being nationalistic.

I don't think jetlagged was the problem. The difference was that Elfi studied Huk playstyle and huk had no idea about elfi playstyle in PVP.Hence, huk loses just like that and not to mention Elfi PVP is pretty sick and one of his best match-up.

Conquering jetlag is part of the criteria of being a professional these days. You'd think if it was such a big deal players would start asking their teams to fly them a couple of extra days before so that it wouldn't be an issue. There are always a hundred different things that could happen to a player so that he isn't playing in "top form". The only time it's ever brought up is when a very popular player loses to a "relatively" unknown and never the other way around. It's pretty sad actually.

Elfi was better than Huk in this match at this time. Don't try to make it anything more than that.
