Well he didn't have many tanks at the time. Anyway it's all about the timing. I'm not Zerg but generally when you make broodlords your opponent makes a ton of Vikings, then when you tech switch (which is very easy as Zerg) to ultralisks, you can destroy his remaining army while the vikings are sitting there useless. The timing could have worked in my opinion. However Machine would have needed the ultralisk cavern way earlier. | ||

The problem with ultras on that map is that cheeky terrans can lift tanks onto the high ground platforms in the middle area of the map and ultras can't shoot. So they have to use broodlords I guess. | ||

The idea is that you make 7 or 8 ultras, you send them in first to soak the initial tank volleys and then the lings and banes that come in behind are actually what's doing the most dps. Infestors also supplement that comp very well. Mr Bitter's analysis was spot on though, that game made me want to beat my head against a wall lol. | ||

Ultras are amazing if your opponent is wasting gas on vikings. Add a few infestors with them and rines will die fast. Tbh ultras are more about getting the lings into melee range so splash starts working against the terran(rather than the zerg). In any case, yes ultras are in most cases amazing if you can get to them with upgrades and support. Getting to them however... | ||
