We've also seen players scout out that cheese earlier in the tournament and defend against it perfectly. Machine failed to do so. Did you see a different game? Machine defended perfectly and then proceeded to build a hatchery and go all in with his army to throw away the game.

Thus, they should be equal as players who are on their 2nd lives so to speak. The only advantage should be had by the Winner of Winner Bracket because he has not lost before.

If you don't like the double elimination format, then you're left with single elimination, which would provide a far less entertaining tournament. The advantage of not losing in a double elimination tournament is that in the grand finals the winner bracket winner (the person that didn't drop a match) only has to win one bo3, whereas the loser bracket winner has to win two bo3 to take the finals. That should be enough of an advantage.

Painuser beat Tyler and advanced farther in the tournament. Forget those two now. Previous results do not matter. Tyler climbs up the losers bracket and earns a place against some unknown player yet to be knocked out. Painuser gets knocked out and plays Tyler. It's a new game. Both players earned that spot and deserve a unique beast of 3 series. That's how I see it.
