So essays standards are I think 14 pt instead of 12 pt. I dont know the reason, but thats how it works. Edit: What Dragoonpk said below + the lack of upper case letters plays a reason too. | ||

Yeah Samach is right, but may I add that the reason for that is also because of Arabic's nature of letters are attached to each other sort of like cursive which makes the writing appear smaller. | ||
