But like most manga in the "late game", Oda's struggling to pull together all the characters. Heck, he sent away 4 strawhats and a good chunk of the plot and we're still not really getting the full picture. Pros: - Doflamingo is a decent villain. Honestly the first good one we've had post timeskip. - There's a good bit of cross purpose action here. Some of the chaos is pretty good, makes it very interesting. - The toy mechanic is actually really cool for storytelling. - It's a pretty cool island. Cons: - Most characters are ending up with a half assed story. Curos, Rebecca, any of the gladiators, Law, the actual villains, Riku, etc. None of them actually have very interesting backstories thus far. - A lot of people must be sitting around doing nothing for all of this to actually work. - The fights (but they're coming...soon I hope...) "Incredibly bad" is a subjective thing. May I recommend reading most other mangas perhaps? I just finished laughing at how bad Freezing is for example.

I guess it is he shout, or shriek so loud that scare the little girl into faint. But!!! This is weak . . . and unconvincing . . (At least for me) . I hope there is more information on how Usopp defeat the toy girl. And, I feel sad for Sogeking and Franky to be defeated . . . I feel maybe Franky and Sogeking will be captured, and the whole thing go bad on Strawhat crew they have to rescue their fallen comrade or something in another long series of episode. To be fair tho, the story is pretty decent, it's just hard to appreciate it since we're reading this on a weekly basis. Like re-read any arc of one piece and it'll be good. Loool at Burgees not even realizing that sabo is outsmarting him T_T

the story is really, really good however, people will always be elitists and nitpick about how it somehow isn't. this applies to one piece but almost every other show/story/manga/whatever. it's kind of silly imo

The only thing I didn't like was how 2 of the nakama were "beaten" off-panel.

Did he somehow force feed her the grape with his tongue? I dont get it. Pretty sure it was just his whole face scaring her to fainting. Normally tongues and eyes aren't supposed to elongate like Ussop noses. Plus the firebreath. And the point-blank scream. Then again Sugar has faced down things like a raging Curos without so much as batting an eyelash, so who knows.

The tongue part reminded me of a very distinct Uzumaki scene. That's pretty scary.

There is never any inconsistency in the characters, do you know how rare that is? In any type of fiction

In any type of fiction that's not the problem.. the way he is writing right now is incredibly annoying for this format. He has 4 or more characters that are at different places and he's trying to develop each narrative at the same time on 20 pages. It's just not working out and all he's doing is testing my patience. How good and well thought out the story of this whole kingdom is I guess pretty subjective,I personally find it boring and half assed. The munchkins are just stupid, the king and princess are the exact same king and princess we saw in other arcs only difference is he is in a different setting and the story is slightly different, the core idea behind the story and character is always the same. He's just spreading himself too thin, like,I get the idea of multiple battlegrounds, narratives and all that but this just isn't executed very well. All he's doing right now is making me feel like the main story is actually a filler(which it probably is). Also if you think that inconsistency in characters are a bad thing than idk,if a character is always the same than that means there is no conflict or development in him, which is obviously not true because there was a huge timeskip and a lot of things changed(at least I hope). But he isn't really doing a good job right now in showing how they all changed really,he's just throwing them into random half assed storylines one after another and milking the cash cow if you ask me.

That he is now faster, stronger, better than he was before? Is this the birth of Captain Tatabasco? It was a nice flashback on Kyros. The scarlet is kidnapped by pirates was easily predictable, but the rest was interesting.
