God MoM on that hero is so funny. Too bad it takes mana to use it :[.

Plus i've only played this hero 240 times: AB has probably played him thousands of times, but I really like him in pubs right now.

Damn, that blows my 137 LD games out of the water. Then again I just have 1159 games played

Hi all,

I've been wondering, I'm sure that there are some math or stat dudes here so I wanted to ask. The growth of the prizepool pf TI4 should be mappable to some function f, right? If so, can we predict the theoretical prizepool come the actual event in 2 month if the growth stays true to that function?

It probably could be. It probably wouldn't be accurate.

As for why: because although the prizepool can be expressed as a function, it's not a function of time. It's a function of huge numbers of people, details such as the new stretch goals, and things that don't even come to mind at the moment. Mapping it mathematically will be very difficult, even if you can find a simple function that follows the current curve, because we simply don't know what will come next.

data modelling tends to be fairly accurate for large populations, assuming nothing ridiculous happens like 10x purchased compendium points weekend or something

idk how to rip the data, but once you do that you can fit to curve on matlab (or i think excel has one too) for a decent prediction of the prize pool

Sorry for asking once again but last time the answer was quite vague and nobody had concrete source of evidence;

Are TI4 grand finals really being held in the evening of Monday July 21st? Is that a thing? Does anyone know this information? Anyone bought tickets and has the answer to this?

Thanks alot!

A quick look at the shape of the graph, maybe you can fit some kind of logarithm growth. Just need the data in a file, and even excel can do the fit lol.

We've already had one event that ought to majorly disturb the prizepool, and we also don't know if there'll be a last minute rush as some people decide they want to watch the games.

idk, isn't it pretty safe to assume there will be a last minute rush? There definitely was last year, I think I got mine a few days before!

Here's a model that some reddit dude did.

Seems pretty accurate, predicts >$9M by the finals.

Don't think this fits in the simple questions thread, but is there some backstory as why all bad Spanish speaking players are assumed to be from Peru? It just seems really random of all countries to pick (including the US).

But like half of the people using cyrillic are actually russian, while that can't be said about people speaking in Spanish.

Dota is very popular in Peru, it's no coincidence they have 2 of the most "decent" teams in America, so it's not completelly random. I have no actual numbers, but if I had to guess the nationality of a Dota player in USE, Peru would be the first choice, followed probally by Chile. And people needed another nationality to blame when they realized those people speaking spanish weren't brazillian.
