The thing is though that a lot of the current 'meta' supports can deal with Phoenix right now. Disruptor is great at dealing with him, Lion is pretty good, Shadow Shaman as well. It's not like he's completely unkillable. Heck even a well played Rubick can give me issues. What'll be interesting to me though is if we see him as a support. He can work really well in that role, so I'm curious if people will put him there or give him solo lane farm. | ||

Obviously the idea has its flaws, but my point is that having a vast majority of the year's prize money tied up in one exclusive 18-or-whatever team tournament seems not that great for the scene. The fact that TI generates that much money for dota is awesome, but I wonder if it could be put to "better use" than the prize pool. I'd also be happy if it increased prizes linearly after a certain point, so for every 2.50 added to the prize pool beyond 6.5m increases the prize for all teams attending, regardless of performance, by 14 cents. Sure people spout NOT A CHARITY but it isn't like getting invited (much less qualifying) for TI is easy. | ||

One of the major problems for the sustainability of sports that depend on prizepools is that the winners, who are probably already doing fine, get 80% of the prizepool. This is an issue in major real sports as well, like tennis. | ||
