i highly advise against taking the advice of random people here unless it's 1a2a9a or that other guy (sorry forgot your name)

a better place would be to post the log in a forum dedicated for this kind of thing
for instance, http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22

i would help, but i would fall into the 'random people' category as far as you're concerned and you shouldn't be taking my advice

Yea, there are definitely some other message boards out there that are really dedicated to this type of thing and as JeeJee said, you should probably go there.

Most of us won't give advice more than go d/l every recommended anti-virus software out there and try them out to see if it fixes your problem (I'm telling you right now to go d/l every recommended anti-virus software out there and try them out to see if it fixes your problem).

If you aren't the type who expect others to do everything for him, go here and follow the steps, it killed every spyware I, or any of my friends, ever had.

It's actually quite difficult to completely remove all malware these days, despite what the antivirus companies want you to believe (but only with their product, mind you). If security is critical, wiping everything after backing up what you need (and make sure to scan that 10 different ways too... all right, once is enough, but only documents!) and reinstalling clean is pretty much your only option, after the system's been compromised

If security is not so critical, such as on a gaming box, run some antivirus software. That should catch pretty much everything that can be caught. If you recognize or are able to identify a specific piece of malware, you might be able to find some way to remove it manually.

Yeah, I thought of PMing 1a2a9a at first since he helped me before. I just wasn't sure if he was still active. I still PMed him anyway. If there is no reply, I guess I'll take some of those website recommendations. =/

*bump*

I ended up formatting his computer. The only thing I have a problem with now is that when you start up the computer, the screen before the Windows loading screen that shows "F12 Boot Menu" and the Dell logo stays for like 5 minutes. The problem with this is that it takes forever to get to the Windows loading screen with the bar scrolling across.

Overall, the computer takes ages to start up even though it has 4GB of ram. How do I know if his computer is a 64 bit PC or not? I checked the computer info but I couldn't find it. He is currently using 32bit Vista and I think that's what he was using before. I thought 32bit PC's couldn't use 4GB of RAM? Am I wrong? Is that the cause to the slow startup?

Thank you.

The 4GB RAM should be no problem. In 32 bit system there is a 4GB limit for the virtual address space per process. Some of that is used by the kernel, so the effective RAM one app can use is less than that. In total the user versions of Win32 only support up to 4 GB RAM, the Server Versions (even 32bit) support more.

Nobody else has a take on this? Oh well, he hasn't been complaining since I formatted his computer. Maybe I should ask my brother. I should've thought of this sooner. -_-
