Crazy email stuff

I never made a blog before but i just woke up early and opened my yahoo email to see something really strange:

1.A email in my inbox from myself to myself and a few close others (family and friends) containing no subject and a link to a shady site that ends in co.tv

2. A email (2 actually) from Hon support (the game) telling me i asked their support a question:again a link to another shady site.

I have nothing in my sent box in my mail so that is a huge relief i REALLY hope my account was not hacked.

But how can they send emails from my email without accessing it? Do they spoof it? Who would do that?

If the people in the mail click the link do you think its going to infect them with a virus? Should i send a email to them not to click the link?

Also when i click on yahoo account info the login https page is broken and i can't go and change my password.

In other related site problems my local auction site ocazii.ro has been broken since yesterday i think they updated something you cant see a lot of the account pages.

Help me make sense of this.

Both scenarios can be done without accessing your email. There are certain ways you can send emails and specify an email as the sender, and for support websites, you enter in your email in the support ticket.

If you can't see certain pages after website updates, try refreshing the cache with ctrl+f5

I know I get spam emails sent to me from the emails of people I know all the time when they didn't send them. So I guess it would be possible for such things to be sent to yourself and from yourself. The busted login page + inability to change password seems pretty shady to me though, it might not be as "innocent" as what I was talking about.

Also I guarantee I'm not the only one who was thrown off by your ID. TT

from your inbox (i'm assuming you have the new default yahoo inbox)
on the top left click Hi, (your name) -> click Account Info, re-enter your password
on that new page, at the bottom of the 2nd box click View Your Recent Login Activity
if there are unfamiliar locations that means your email was hacked.

Its not broken but i get a message that the site certificate is not valid or something then the page has like no css only html when i "approve" it and it loads. It happens both in firefox and chrome.

Edit: changed my password but the account page still only shows html.

+ to OP: Changing your pw should do the trick. Send your family/whoever received that email not to open the link, and just to ignore it.

I think the invalid certificates for https pages was because my date was set wrong it was to 2001 i think. Its fine now, thx all for the help, i sent a email warning them not to open the link.

Yes you were hacked. Virus scan and change your password. There is no way to access contact info without access to the account. Since hacking a mail server is next to impossible, they must have gotten it from a trojan on your computer or they hacked a database of another site that stored your pw in plain text and you used the same password.
